A mini tractor for a household is a very useful technique. With it, you can easily move and lift any goods, collect, for example, hay or cultivate the site. At the same time, the range of capabilities of this technique can be significantly expanded, for this it is enough to equip it with several additions. However, today we will not talk about attachments, but about how to make a mini-tractor for the household with your own hands.
Frame
This element is the most important and necessary for most units of special equipment (including one such as a mini-tractor). Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant consequences, it is necessary to draw up a drawing or diagram of a future design in advance. After that, you can safely proceed to its manufacture. For the frame, several lightweight metal channels should be selected and interconnected by automatic or semi-automatic welding. Also pay attention to the length of this element. The dimensions of the frame must be proportional to the dimensions of the mini-tractor. The longer this element, the larger and the whole technique.
Other details
After welding the channels along the contour, holes are made that will serve to fasten various attachments and other structural elements. You should think about the steps, they cling to both sides of the frame. The main material used here is an 8 mm steel sheet "St-3", which will also be used for the transverse bracket of the steering column. For additional strength of the joints, the transverse segments are equipped with “scarves” of the same steel that was previously used for the steps (however, the width of the sheet here will be slightly less than 5 millimeters).
How is a mini-tractor made homemade further ? After that, the bridge hinges are welded to the front transverse beam. They will also be made of sheet metal "ST-3". The thickness of the sheet is 2 centimeters. After that, bridges are attached to the frame (front and rear, respectively).
Homemade: mini-tractors and parts for them. More on bridges and beams
The bridge is made from separately taken parts and assemblies removed from similar agricultural machinery. Some use bridges from the 24th Volga
or Moskvich. But in our case, such details will not be used, because they simply do not fit into the dimensions of the mini-tractor. An exception is the rear axle. We will talk about it in more detail a little later.
Parts to do yourself
Parts such as sleeves of rotary, wheel and support axle shafts must be made by one's own hands. A crossbeam is also manufactured on its own. For this, a piece of pipe with a square section of 65x65x5 millimeters is taken.
If not, the beam can be made of
metal corners. Axle bushings are made of
structural steel. Slewing gears are made from pieces of metal pipe. For this, a pipe with a section of 70x14 millimeters is taken and cut into several pieces 120 mm long each. Also in them it is necessary to make seats for bearings. After that, the resulting part is covered with metal welded lids. The assembled unit is welded into the center of the beam (it should consist of 2 roller bearings and a cylindrical cage), with the help of which the rolling of this bridge will be allowed.
As fasteners for this assembly, bolts and nuts marked “M-30” should be used. They completely fix the entire front beam. When tightening, place a special spring washer under the nut. It is worth noting that with each tightening of the bolted connection, you reduce the amount of backlash of the front axle relative to the mini-tractor. Thus, you will have the opportunity to adjust this unit, if necessary, before each new implementation of agricultural work.
About rear axle
Unlike the front, it is not necessary to make it yourself. It is quite enough to establish a standard “Volgovsky” element here. But, since the width of the mini-tractor does not correspond to the dimensions of the bridge from the GAZ-24, we will have to shorten it to 80 centimeters. To do this, the “stocking” fixation is removed, the rivet heads are cut down, and the rest is pushed deeper. The separation of the bridge with the gear housing is carried out using a sledgehammer with the fixation of the first element in a special mandrel.
Thanks to these actions, you will ensure docking with a reverse gear, so that a cardan fracture will be eliminated. Also, you will no longer need to balance and install counterweights on mini tractors to give, which will significantly speed up the time of work.
In order to fix the shortened “stockings” in the holes, a thread (“M-12”) is cut and the screws are screwed in. The resulting bridge is attached to 8 plates. The latter are welded with bolts ("M-10", 4 per plate) and nuts to the side members. The spring washer is used to check the connections. To do this, identical plates are welded onto the bridge. At the final stage, home-made brackets are installed under the hinged frame mount. For the lifting mechanism, the housing of the elevator shaft is welded to the axle housing.
The final stage
Now the matter remains small: the seat is welded to the resulting structure, and all the equipment is painted in one monotonous color (if desired, you can use several different shades of aerosol cans). A trailing device is installed at the back of the equipment for operation in conjunction with a plow.
How to make a mini tractor for a do-it-yourself household? Method number 2
This method is simpler than the previous one, however here you will need to have your own walk-behind tractor to complete the work. It’s not necessary to purchase a new one, for the tractor some old Soviet “Ural” or “Neva” will do.
What do we take from the walk-behind tractor?
From this unit the “heart” will be extracted, that is, the motor, which will be the main traction device of the tractor. All other parts can be put into parts. In addition, during the work you will need a starter, bridges and wheels for them.
Further assembly technology is practically no different from the previous one, a welding machine, metal pipes and
sheet steel are also involved here
.Getting to work
So, how are mini-tractors made from a walk-behind tractor? First, a kinematic system of technology is designed. Traction forces coming from the engine ICE must be transmitted through a roller chain to an intermediate shaft. Also, using the penultimate device, power will also be transmitted to the drive wheels. A brake (tape) is located on the output shaft, and a gearshift lever is installed along the axis. The engine will start through the starter pedal. In principle, a mini-tractor for a household is not such a complicated technique as it seems at first glance, therefore it can be done on the basis of just one drawing.

The frame will be made of steel pipes and corners. You should also provide a fork with a sleeve for turning the trailer (in the case of a tractor in conjunction with it or a plow). The so-called “cheeks” are attached to the housing of the bearing assembly, and the output shaft is tightly welded to the “scarves” of the socket. The front beam and rear axle are made similar to the previous method.
Next, the self-made mini-tractor is equipped with a metal body with a side height of at least 30 cm. All this must be made of sheet steel. At a distance of 80-85 centimeters from the end of the spinal beam, a soft seat is installed from a thin sheet of plywood (you can optionally sheathe with faux leather with foam filling).
At the final stage, we will equip the mini-tractor for the household with a tow hitch. After this, the technique goes through a primer and paint procedure.
So, we figured out how to make a mini tractor for the household with our own hands.
