It allows you to test without using dead carcasses, such as pigs. And it can be cooked at home. The recipe below allows you to create a ballistic gel with your own hands. However, the material obtained will differ from that made for the military and law enforcement agencies.
What do you need for cooking
So how to make a ballistic gel? First of all, it is necessary to prepare the dishes and all the components. The first ingredient is gelatin. This product must be diluted in a ratio of one to eight. In other words, for 800 grams of pure water you need to take only 100 grams of gelatin.
This component needs a lot, since it is the basis for a ballistic gel. To prepare a block, the volume of which is two liters, you will need 250 grams of edible gelatin. It is worth noting that ballistic gel can be prepared in any size and shape. It all depends on what capacity and mold are available.
To begin with, you should take dishes of a suitable size and pour the necessary amount of liquid into it. Only then can gelatin be added to the water. In this case, the composition must be thoroughly mixed.
If you do the opposite, then as a result, large lumps are formed, which will have to be rubbed. Whoever worked with gelatin knows how difficult it is. Even with careful grinding, small lumps will remain that can ruin the ballistic gel.

After the composition is ready, the container should be placed in a cold place. It is best to place the dishes with the future gel in the freezer or in the refrigerator. This will provide the necessary hydration.
Warming up the composition
When edible gelatin dissolves completely and cools in the refrigerator, it is necessary to heat it. To do this, the resulting composition should be poured into a pan and put on fire. Do not leave gelatin unattended. At this stage, the composition must be regularly mixed. As a result, all air bubbles that are present in the mixture will come out.

Previously, material suitable for processing should be thoroughly washed under running water, preferably cold. As a result of heating, the composition should become homogeneous. When re-boiling, as in cooking, gelatin should be mixed regularly. Otherwise, there will be air bubbles in the finished ballistic gel. Which is not entirely good. After heating, the finished composition should again be poured into the mold and placed in the cold for 24 hours.
How and how much to store
The finished ballistic gel made from edible gelatin is not stored for a long time. Therefore, you need to use the material within half an hour if the temperature in the room or on the street exceeds 20 ° C. In addition, homemade ballistic gel is afraid of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as well as in rooms with high air temperature.
