Frameless furniture can be safely called one of the ingenious inventions in the furniture world: bright, comfortable, stylish, affordable. The chair bag is its bright representative. Similar to a large soft toy, it is, at the same time, very light and practical, and will be appropriate even in a children's room. It is impossible to accidentally hit such a piece of furniture; no effort is required to move him from one place to another; on it you can change the covers and add filler as it shrinks; after all, it can be sewn on its own.
Yes exactly. If you make a chair-bag with your own hands, it will cost you two to three times cheaper than the finished one bought. In addition, making this little thing yourself, you have a larger selection of fabrics, and, therefore, you can sew a chair in full accordance with your interior.
Of course, the first question that arises is how is the bag filled and where to get such a filler? We will answer it right away: frameless furniture is filled with special polystyrene granules (polystyrene balls). It costs quite inexpensively, so before you make a bean bag chair, you can order it online from companies that produce polystyrene. And we will need a lot of this good: an adult chair will take about 300 liters or 0.3 cubic meters of filler. As for the quality of the granules, use the smallest ones, because the larger the diameter of the balls, the faster they lose their shape, and when planted on the product, they make a rustle. It is better not to use cheaper foam crumb for filling, since it is crushed from old containers, in which, most often, frozen fish was stored .
In order to create a chair bag with your own hands, stock up, in addition to filler, with graph paper, scissors, two types of fabric of 3 m each (one will go to the inner cover, the second, denser and more beautiful to the outside); two lightnings (40cm - on the inner cover, 100cm - on the outside); durable synthetic threads. And, of course, there should be a sewing machine. First things first, you need to make a pattern of the chair. It can be found on the Internet or developed independently, and then transferred to graph paper or tracing paper.
When the pattern is ready, you need to attach it with pins to the fabric from which the inner cover will be sewn, because we will be the one to make it first, and at the same time we will fill our hand so that we try not to make mistakes on the outside. The fabric should be strong enough, cotton or lining is quite suitable, because the chair-bag with its own hands should not quickly wear out. Next, circle the part and cut it out of the canvas, taking into account the allowances for the seams. When all the elements are cut out, we take two wedges, fold them inward with the front side, outline 15 cm from the top and bottom, and sew them together, leaving the middle unwired: we sew the zipper into it. Next, using the sewing machine, we fasten the rest of the elements. Now, through the open zipper, we turn out the product and voila: the inner cover is ready. By the same principle, we do the external upholstery.
Both covers have already been sewn, which represent the future frameless bean bag chair. How to make it soft? Very simple: take the inner case and start pouring filler into it. To avoid static electricity, use a paper “scoop”: roll up paper bags like paper rolls of grannies selling seeds from a piece of paper or other thick paper. It is better not to allow children in this process and isolate them from the room where you fill the chair for a while, because the polystyrene granules are very small and can easily get into the respiratory tract.
Filling the bag chair with your own hands, you do not need to fill it to capacity: 2/3 of the total volume is enough, otherwise the Archimedes law will not work (the balls will have nowhere to be squeezed out when you sit on it), and you risk sitting on a large volumetric toy with which You’ll fall like a ball. Now that the inner cover is full, fasten it with a zipper. Pull the outer cover over the resulting bag and also fasten it. That's all, you can try your new chair, from which now it is unlikely to want to get off, because it is so convenient in it!
