Many home owners have learned to install do-it-yourself siding. Recently, such types of facing works have become popular precisely in terms of independent execution. However, for a reliable facade coating, it is necessary to know the basic rules of installation, otherwise all forces will be spent in vain. The wide distribution of the material is due to the quick and effective restoration of the appearance of the structure. With all this, the cost of siding is also taken into account. Its price can actually be considered quite acceptable, since other types of finishes at low cost do not have such quality characteristics.
Before attaching the siding with your own hands, you need to take care of at least a minimal set of tools, which will include a hammer with a nail clipper,
metal scissors, a square, a hacksaw, a tape measure, a pencil, a level and a lace. Finishing a house with this material also provides for certain measures to protect the walls. However, before this, it will be necessary to remove all unnecessary elements from the surface of the structure (platbands, visors and the like). If it is impossible to fasten the panels directly to the facade, then it is necessary to make a metal or wooden crate. It is advisable to perform it even with perfectly even walls, so that a ventilated gap is formed.
When the supporting structure is ready, you can fix the siding to it with your own hands. However, it is not as easy to perform the crates as it might seem at first. First of all, all angles are displayed in terms of level, after which the remaining slats are set between them using a taut rope. In the case of a wooden structure, small blocks can be used for leveling. In other situations, the crate is displayed using suspensions mounted on the surface of the wall.
Do-it-yourself siding is laid on the finished supporting structure. First, additional elements are installed: external and internal corners, starting strips and J-rails. Only then can we begin fixing the
cladding panels. They are screwed with screws or nailed. Before assembly, all elements of the vinyl coating are recommended to withstand for several hours in a warm place. When carrying out work in the winter, the expansion gaps between the component parts should be increased to a centimeter.
To install siding yourself, you need to consider some of the nuances that this type of cladding provides. When carrying out installation work, strong tension of individual elements should be avoided. If you neglect this, then after some time, deformation of the coating may occur: the appearance of blisters, cracks and other defects. Eliminating such consequences will be very difficult. The last row of siding panels is installed only after the installation of finishing rails, fixed close to the cornice. Cropped plates with special locks are refilled in them.
