Every family with a child needs a toy basket. With your own hands, making it from improvised materials is not at all difficult. By the way, “trash crafts” are extremely popular today. This type of needlework is called "recycling."
The fastest way to make toy baskets
If there is a playpen left in the house, which is a pity to throw away (what if it comes in handy again?), Then it can easily be “forced” to work even when the baby has already grown up. In fact, there are no unnecessary things if the owner has a well-developed fantasy, since making a basket for toys from the arena is a trifling thing!
You just need to take a large piece of fabric, in the middle to establish the arena. The edges of the material beautifully drape the frame, wrapping the fabric around and fastening the folds with thread or a stapler. Inside the arena, a lining is sewn, which must correspond to its size. Along the edge of the arena box, you can put a ruffle or a beautiful stitch, lace, ribbon.
A cardboard box is a wonderful material for crafts!
You should not throw away large boxes after buying anything, as making a toy basket from it is quite simple. For strength, you can make a few turns of tape on the frame, and then just stick on top bright pictures.
But some masters are not content with simple ways. They build real houses, palaces from cardboard, in which they don’t pile up everything in a row, and where the toys “live”. Of course, for the manufacture of such "puppet towns" the needlewoman will need a lot of patience, diligence and skill.
Dimensioning for a cylindrical box made of linoleum covered with fabric
An original DIY basket for toys can be made literally from the most unnecessary things. It is enough to cut out the details according to the proposed drawing. The rectangle (sidewall) has an arbitrary width - this will be the height of the box. But the length will need to be calculated by the formula, measuring the radius of the bottom circle. It is equal to 2X3,14Hradius bottom.
You can measure the circumference using a thread. Having carefully laid it out along the bottom edge, the thread is cut at the junction. This will be the length of the rectangle, which will become the side of the box.
You can go the opposite way, having first carved a sidewall. Having folded the rectangle into a pipe, it is set to end on a newspaper and circled from below with a pencil. This will be the pattern of the bottom of the cylinder.
If all the calculations are done correctly and the cutting is done correctly, to sew a basket for toys is not difficult.
Workshop for sewing a cylindrical box for toys
- 2 parts are cut from linoleum.
- The edges of the rectangle are connected with a stapler or stitched with a strong thread, such as fishing line.
- Lining is made of fabric - also 2 parts, a circle and a rectangle.
- Sew from the rectangle "pipe", folding the material face inward.
- Sew the bottom circle on one side of the “pipe” so that the front part is inside and the seams out. This part does not need to be twisted.
- From the pieces of jeans, a strainer, an old coat, or other old-fashioned fabric items, the upper side of the casing is assembled. Squares, rectangles or triangles are sewn together so that a canvas is obtained that is the same size as the pattern. You should make the casing a little (about 1 cm) larger than the linoleum cylinder, because it will be pulled over the casing. Also sometimes used in the manufacture of the seal, which increases the size of the casing.
- To make a beautiful basket for toys, sewn from unnecessary trash with your own hands , it is decorated with an applique on top. You can sew on pockets, bows, buttons. If desired, the application can be glued.
- Stitch the “pipe” of the casing by folding the canvas with the front side inward. Pieces of fabric should be selected so that the joint between the parts coincides with the main seam of the canvas.
- The bottom of the casing is sewn in the same way as for the lining.
- This part must be turned out so that the seams are inside the cylinder.
- It is possible to use a sealant in the manufacture. For him, a synthetic winterizer, an old thin blanket, a plaid, coat coat. The use of a sealant is especially important if the casing is made of a sufficiently thin material: chintz, silk, spatula, cloak, and so on. Details are cut out of it according to the same pattern, but they are made in duplicate.
- You can stick the seal on the frame on both sides. You can fix it with a stapler by wrapping it with a “pipe” from linoleum.
- First, a circle of linoleum with a sealant is laid on the bottom of the casing.
- A lining cylinder is inserted inside the casing cylinder.
- All layers of the craft are fastened along the edge of the bottom with a thread.
- Now you need to insert the sidewall of the frame between the casing and the lining.
- The edge of the product is sewn, treated with a beautiful inlay.
Toy box with cardboard frame
Often at home there is a suitable cardboard box left after buying any equipment. In this case, a DIY basket for toys is quite simple to make. The frame is already ready, it remains only to cut the lining, casing and seal.
Using the previously described algorithm for manufacturing a cylindrical box for toys, the master can slightly modify the process. If you use a rectangle instead of a circle for the casing, lining and seal, then you will get no less wonderful baskets for storing toys. Handles are sometimes sewn to the top. Then they turn into large bags, which are convenient to take with you to the cottage or on a picnic.
And if you attach a little imagination and make windows in the boxes with a mesh stretched in them or a transparent cloth, sew a door with a zipper, then such baskets for children's toys can be used as play houses. True, then you have to take everything out of the box and turn it upside down.
And you can completely dispense with the frame by taking just a fairly dense seal, for example, from coats. Then the basket will turn out soft and even empty formless. But when all the toys are stacked in it, it will “grow” before our eyes!
Tips for knitting needlewomen
It can turn out a lovely soft basket for toys if the casing is not made of fabric, but knitted or crocheted. Moreover, you can use not only yarn, but also old sheets and duvet covers cut by ribbons and even dimensionless tights.
Fabric tapes need to be cut 2 cm wide, stitching them in one strip. For work, the craftswoman should take the largest hook.
But the tights are cut in a spiral, stretching a little strip. As a result, it is twisted into a tube - from this "yarn" and a casing is knitted.
Basket for children's toys from a rope
Original baskets for children's toys look creative, for the manufacture of which an ordinary becheva similar to the one to which parcels are tied at the post office is suitable.
Making such a basket is quite simple. You just need to choose the frame of the required shape and size or make it separately. It will turn out beautifully if the becheva neatly arranged in rows camouflages even an ordinary cardboard box. But you can independently make a framework of wood, plinth, baguette or stiff wire. The resulting walls are joined by stitching with strong threads.
Wicker toy baskets
Today, things made using the weaving technique have become very fashionable . Wicker baskets for toys are made from a variety of materials: willow twigs, newspaper tubes, strips of denim, insulation wire, plaits of old fabric and so on.
It is worth noting immediately that items made from real twigs - willow vines, rattan - look extremely impressive. However, the cut ends of the branches will necessarily be present inside the basket. And no matter how the master tries to hide them, they will be able to injure the baby at any time. Therefore, do not stop your choice on these materials.
Many are fond of weaving newspaper tubes. It may also look quite presentable - painted and coated tubes are difficult to distinguish from natural material. But such baskets are not durable. And washing them is quite difficult.
But soft wire in color insulation will be an excellent material for weaving. Start work should be from the center of the bottom. It is best to take a fairly strong ring, to which to attach with the rays pieces of wire equal to the height of the basket plus the radius of the bottom. Next, "ducks" are fixed - a wire that will interweave with the base across. She circles around in a checkerboard pattern and weave row after row.
If desired, you can even knit a picture using material of several different colors.
It is very important to remember that any item that the child will use should be as safe as possible!
