He is not only one of the worst enemies of the X-Men, but also the right hand of the powerful mutant of the Apocalypse.
early years
Nathaniel Essex (Sinister) was born in England. He lost his parents very early, and the guy had to inherit the huge fortune of his aristocratic family. The firm ground underfoot allowed the young man to do what he loved. After all, he had been fond of genetics for a long time and put experiments on animals and people.
Even then, far-reaching plans for creating people with superpowers were spinning in his head. But it would take more than one hundred years to put this theory into practice, so he could not convince high-ranking scientists, and they expelled him from the Royal Scientific Society. But how can this stop a real genius?
Loss
Time passes, and before him again appears the opportunity that he had dreamed about. He is found by the Apocalypse - one of the oldest and most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. He very much supports the aspirations of Essex, so he makes him his assistant, and after that he accepts the Hellfire Club into the secret community of mutants. True, before this he tried to commit suicide Sinister. Marvel (comic book series) describes how this happened.
The fact is that Nathaniel Essex was not always alone. He had a wife and son, but the child died at the age of two. The geneticist decided to exhume his corpse and try to bring it back to life, but Rebecca forbade him to do this. It is clear that she did not like the fact that her husband conducts experiments on crossing animals and people.
Once, while the scientist was absent, the girl went into his laboratory and released the test subjects from the cells. Only they did not appreciate her kindness and killed Rebecca Essex. When the scientist returned, she was already almost dead, but managed to call him an evil monster. The guy could not reconcile with the loss of his family, so he decided to die. In this difficult moment, he met the Apocalypse.
Dramatic changes
The ancient mutant immediately made Essex two priceless gifts - he awarded him eternal youth and immortality. And he remembered the last words of his wife and chose a nickname - Sinister ("Marvel"). A photo of a mad scientist can be seen below.
He even changed outwardly, his face turned silver-pale, his eyes turned red, and on his forehead appeared the mark of the Apocalypse - a ruby stone.
First results
For many years, Sinister conducted his genetic research, and soon realized one simple truth - a superman can come from the union of two mutants. He decided to entrust the first attempt to Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Gina Gray (Telepathic). To conduct an experiment, he placed them in a shelter, and when the girl nearly died, made her a clone, whom Madeleine Pryer called. They had a son with Cyclops, whom Sinister was going to use to destroy the Apocalypse. To do this, he sent him to the future and gave the nickname Cable.
In the end, his constant attempts to create a superman attracted the attention of the X-Men, which later included Cyclops and the Telepath. But the evil genius has already assembled his own team, which he called "Marauders". Many times after that, conflicts arose between them, but completely good mutants could not get rid of it.
Sinister (Marvel): Abilities
Sinister is considered one of the most powerful negative characters, because it has several useful skills at once:
- Immortality.
- Instant regeneration. Healing of his body is much faster than that of an ordinary person. Moreover, he is able to recover from any damage - gunshot wounds and numerous punctures, and his broken bones heal in a matter of seconds.
- Molecular control. Thanks to this technique, Mr. Sinister (Marvel) is able to control every molecule in his body. It can change the appearance and size, and can, for example, transform into a liquid mass.
- Endurance. Can fight in full force for a long time before getting tired.
- Force. Able to lift a huge weight equal to several tons.
- Telepathy. He has the ability not only to read thoughts, but also to inspire his own.
- Cause paralysis. Sinister is capable of causing mental or physical paralysis on the victim.
- Mind control. Using this technique, he is able to control his enemies.
- Mental protection. Sinister is resistant to telepathic attacks. By the way, it’s better not to get into his head at all, because everything is clearly not good there.
- Telekinesis. He can manipulate objects, and quite heavy, as well as his own body, which makes it possible to fly at a very high speed.
- Rays of death. It can release energy rays from the hands.
Ultimate sinister
The alternative universe also could not do without such a character as Sinister ("Marvel"). A comic book hero is present there as a scientist from Norman Osborne Corporation . Nathaniel Essex looked like a bodybuilder. Tattoos covered his body almost completely, and the word "Sinister" was stamped on his forearm, hence the nickname.
Due to the lack of the necessary material for work, he often had to experiment on himself and this gave him many abilities. But, along with this, deprived him of reason. The image of the Apocalypse began to appear to him, which constantly asked to kill mutants.
After killing a few superhumans, setbacks begin to haunt him. Essex enters the X-Men School, but he is caught and sent to the high-tech complex - Trixelion. There he again begins to see the Apocalypse, which orders him to strangle himself, and he even made several attempts. True, to no avail.
Transformation into Apocalypse
So, he did not succeed in killing himself, but he was able to stage the death, and when they left Trixelion, he went to finish off the mutants. Fortunately, he manages to find the shelter of the Morlocks, led by the Night Serpent. He enters into battle with them, but suddenly the X-Men appear, who rebuff Essex. Although by that time Sinister had already managed to kill the right amount of mutants. Therefore, he teleports to the city, where he becomes the Apocalypse.
In the city, the military attack him, and a little later, the X-Men appear. The first to attack Wolverine, but robs his hand Sinister. "Marvel" is a series of comics that have a fairly bright and interesting plot. He continues to fight the mutants that the Night Serpent brought. After that, he takes control of Wolverine and forces him to attack the X-Men. It’s not easy to deal with. Each attack makes Sinister only stronger. There is such a character as Sinister in the animated series "Wolverine and X-Men" ("Marvel" is not the only work where he can be found). There he confronts the mutants of Professor Xavier, who ultimately scattered him in the wind. But he survived anyway.
In the animated series "X-Men," he was again their adversary. Essex has appeared in several episodes. First, he works on the creation of superhumans, using Gina Gray and Scott Summers for this, until Cyclops destroys his plans.
Then, for the same purpose, he abducts Magneto and all the mutants of Professor Xavier, but again fails. True, this time does not die.
After that, he fought with the mutants in the future, was an assistant to the Apocalypse, managed to ruin the wedding of Summers and Gray and tried to kidnap the psychic, who was looked after by Gambit and Thunder.
Only in films did the brilliant villain manage to flash only a couple of times. In the film "X-Men 2" it can be seen on a computer file, based on Stryker. And in the work "X-Men: Apocalypse," he appears at the very end to pick up a test tube with Wolverine's blood.
It is worth noting that even without superpowers, the rather dangerous personality is Sinister. Marvel shows him as very intelligent, with great knowledge in genetic engineering. By the way, he succeeded quite well in creating clones that almost completely copy the original. He has great knowledge in chemistry, physics, medicine, psychology, programming and electronics. Therefore, it is not surprising that despite numerous attempts, no one was able to get rid of him forever.
