Everyone who is interested in trends in the global economy, of course, is aware of the existence of such an authoritative organization as the OECD. The decoding of this abbreviation says that it is the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. This structure has existed for a long time, and over time its influence only increases.
Globalization of the global economy
The economic development of countries and territories has never been isolated. But the degree of dependence of the economies of different countries on each other in different eras was far from the same. In the process of development, interdependence increased and gradually reached a new level. One of the dominant trends in world development at the beginning of the third millennium is the process of the so-called "globalization". It is expressed in the fact that the economy of all developed countries cannot exist and develop separately from world political and economic realities. Often you hear about the OECD claims to world domination. Such statements have certain reasons. The organization today includes 34 countries, including most of the countries of the European Union. Many countries cooperate with the OECD in a number of areas, not being its members. OECD and Russian Federation
OECD relations with Russia are not easy. Over the years, the Russian Federation has declared a course towards integration into this international structure. A significant step in this direction was the entry of Russia into the World Trade Organization. But in March 2014, the process of Russia's integration into the OECD was suspended for an indefinite period. The reason for this was mainly economic sanctions against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis. But the increased anti-Western rhetoric in Russian ruling circles is also of importance. Many in Russia question the very need to integrate the country into this international structure. Conservative anti-globalist tendencies are increasingly apparent in many countries and regions of the world. Russia is no exception in this regard.
Prospects for globalization
Over the incomplete seven decades of its existence, the OECD, the decoding of the name of which indicates claims to world influence, has managed to become a very authoritative structure. At the beginning of the third millennium, new perspectives and directions of activity in the field of coordination of economic development and the world division of labor opened before her. Global wealth production in the twenty-first century is increasingly shifting to the region of Southeast Asia. And the OECD organization has a coordinating function in this process. It promotes a balanced consideration of the legitimate interests of owners of intellectual property rights to high-tech products and those who produce these products.
