Alexander Chugunov is a former Soviet football player who is now a coach. He played in sports from 1970 to 1984. This football player was not tied to any particular position and throughout his career he was in the role of both a defender and a midfielder, and even an attacker. He was remembered both for his versatility and devotion to the Kuban, which will be discussed a little later. Alexander Chugunov began coaching nine years after completing his professional career and continues to do this, although not in big football, as he had originally planned.

Alexander Chugunov was born at Sinyapkin Farm in the Rostov Region on May 10, 1953. He began to play football at the age of ten, and his first professional club was Kamensk Progress. There he performed from 1970 to 1971. At first he played in Class B, after which he dropped into the amateur division, but the player’s talent was obvious, so he was not kept in such a hopeless club.

In 1972, a young talent joined the Rostov SKA, for which he played only six matches before moving to Kuban the next season, where he managed to best open up. Alexander Chugunov found his real football home in this club.

Alexander Chugunov biography

Alexander Chugunov, whose biography did not yet have records of a long stay in any club, finally found a place where he could play calmly and reveal his talent. The football player spent four years in the Kuban, playing 164 matches and scoring 17 goals. It was there that he became famous, gained popularity and formed as a full-fledged football player.

However, even such an alliance came to an end, and in 1978 Alexander Chugunov, whose photographs could be seen in various Soviet sports publications, moved to the Dynamo Stavropol. It is worth noting that this transfer did not particularly affect the attitude of local fans towards the player - they still loved this player, so when he returned, they met him more than joyfully.

Further career

Alexander Chugunov football player

Alexander Chugunov is a football player who has not stayed in any other club for as long as in Kuban. In 1979, he left the team to join Dynamo from Stavropol, spent 38 matches there, scoring five goals. However, he did not last long there, and a year later he returned to his favorite club.

For another three years, the footballer played for Kuban, adding 69 more matches and two goals to his account. However, he did not finish his professional career here - in 1984 Chugunov signed a short-term contract with the Novorossiysk Cement. Having played only two matches for the new club, Alexander announced that he was finishing with professional sports. This happened quite early, since at that time he was only 31 years old. Many players play several years longer, there are even those who finish in the area of forty. In any case, Chugunov ended his career quite early.

Career coach

For ten years Chugunov did not appear in big football and was mainly engaged in his personal life. And only in 1995 it became known that he was appointed assistant coach of the Krasnodar Kolos, but he stayed in office for only a year. After another long break, Alexander tried his hand again - this time at the club "Krasnodar-2000", where he also was an assistant to the head coach for a year.

Then he again retired and returned only in 2009, when he was appointed a children's coach of the Children's Sports School No. 5 of the city of Krasnodar. In this position, he has already spent more than seven years and is still doing the same. He trains children under the age of fifteen, who can then grow into full-fledged players in the local Krasnodar.

In general, this person’s career as a football player cannot be called particularly outstanding, and the coach’s career was even less remarkable. However, we can safely say that as a player and as a mentor, he eventually still found his place in the sun. As a football player, he played 7 out of fourteen at Kuban, and after completing his career, after several unsuccessful attempts to work with adult teams, Chugunov stopped at training young guys, preparing them for the world of big football and growing talents for Krasnodar "And for Russia.
