A passport of a world citizen is a document issued by a private organization World Service Authority, founded in the 50s of the last century by an American Harry Davis. But it can be called an official document with a stretch - this passport is actually recognized by only six African countries, such as Tanzania and Burkin Faso. So, crossing the border, even leaving your country, having only a passport of a world citizen with you, will not work.
And immediately the question arises as to why this document is needed if it does not have force in most countries of the world. To get an answer, you should turn to the history of the appearance of a world passport: the founder of the WSA society Harry Davis was a pacifist, and therefore suggested that the whole world should unite in order to avoid future wars. And it was he who invented the passport of a citizen of the world, which was called upon to replace all existing official documents. Harry Davis himself burned his American passport and refused to be a US citizen, after which he traveled only with a world passport, for which he spent almost 10 years in prisons in different countries for violating immigration laws. And the organization WSA began selling these passports for a nominal fee of $ 5, and sometimes issued free of charge, if necessary. With the help of a passport of a world citizen, many refugees from Africa and Afghanistan were able to escape from hunger and the horrors of war - they presented themselves as employees of international organizations, and a booklet with inscriptions in seven languages of the world looked quite convincing for semi-literate border guards. Therefore, at present, obtaining a world passport is rather a statement on the entry into society of people who seek to unite all countries and peoples.
Many people confuse the world passport and the UN passport - the second is issued only to employees of the UN diplomatic missions, and, in fact, is a pass. But in fact, it can be used as a passport, and it gives the right to visa-free travel to some countries, and in most countries a visa is issued upon immediate request. A UN passport can only be obtained by an employee of this organization, and although recently such documents have appeared on sale, they are hardly real.
In order to get a passport of a world citizen, you have to pay - the amount will depend on the selected validity period of the document, from about 40 to 200 US dollars. But this is official, but resellers may offer to purchase a document from 300 to 2,000 US dollars. Moreover, the issued document will be real, they will simply assume the functions of intermediaries, for which they will take their commission. Anyone who is not on the international wanted list can apply for a world passport. For registration, it will take 1-2 months.
To receive or not to receive a passport of a citizen of the world is a personal decision of each person. But it is worth remembering
that such a document is better than none at all. Sometimes only a world passport saved people from prison or deportation, in case of loss or theft of other documents. The main thing to remember is that such a passport is not official, and can only serve as an additional confirmation of a person's identity.
