The world of motorsport has always been saturated with great racers, the fate of which lovers of car racing watched with aspiration and delight. Nevertheless, even in a cohort of strong athletes there will always be such persons to whom special attention is riveted. One of these is Bruno Senna. We will talk about his life in this article.
Birth and family
The famous Brazilian sports car master was born on October 15, 1983. His hometown is São Paulo. Bruno Senna is the nephew of the legendary three-time champion of the most prestigious Formula 1 Ayrton Senna, who died on the highway in San Marino in 1994. The mother of our hero is Vivienne Senna, and the late father, who crashed on a motorcycle in 1995, Flavio Lally.
Racing career
In 2005, Bruno Senna spent five races in British Formula - WWII and Formula Renault, after which he decided to move to British Formula 3. At that time, his highest achievements were three podium raises in seven races, which he carried out as part of the Räikkönen Robertson Racing team.
The following year, the Brazilian at the Australian Grand Prix won three of four races. At the end of the season, the rider was able to take third place in the overall standings, gaining 269 points.
Transition to GP2
In the period 2007-2008 the athlete was a member of the Arden International team in the GP2 series. Already in his debut race, he was able to finish fourth on the track in Bahrain, and after some time he became the winner of the stage in Spain.
The race at Silverstone for the Brazilian can not be called successful. He started in it from last place due to poorly held qualifications. However, during the ride he was able to arrive eleventh.
In 2008, Bruno changed his team. That year he managed to win the race in Monte Carlo.
Acquaintance with Formula 1
Bruno Senna first sat behind the wheel of a Formula 1 racing car in November 2008, when he was testing for the Honda team in Barcelona, Catalonia. At that time, the task for the rider was to get acquainted with the car and show how capable it is to work in the team of one of the "stables" of the Royal Races.
But due to economic difficulties, the Japanese team was forced to withdraw from the competition, which reduced Senna's chances to get into the elite racing league.
In 2009, Bruno tested himself in the racing series of Le Mann. The first race for him was a thousand-kilometer run in Catalunya, where he, together with his comrade Stefan Ortelia, took third place.
Contracts with Hispania and Renault
For the first team, Bruno Senna, whose photo is shown below, spoke in 2010. That season was unsuccessful for the Brazilian: he could not score a single point, as, however, his teammates.
In early 2011, the rider becomes a test pilot of the Renault team, and after the dismissal of her Nick Heifeld takes the position of the main pilot. He holds the first race in Belgium, where he was able to qualify as the seventh, and in the race itself to take 13th position. In Italy, Bruno took ninth place, thanks to which he received his first points in Formula 1.
Senna spent the 2012 year as part of the Williams team.
Endurance Racing
Bruno Senna is a racer who was able to clearly prove himself in different directions of the racing series. So, in 2013, he performed at WEC in the GTE Pro class. During the season, he bothered to score 94 points and take eighth position in the absolute championship. His companions were Frederick Makovecki, Rob Bell.
Electric Racing
On September 14, 2014, the Brazilian made his debut in Beijing at the wheel of an electric Formula. However, due to problems with the electronics, he was forced to retire.
In the second race of the season, the athlete took 14th place and managed to smash the car on a special wall of old rubber tires.
The third race was somewhat more successful than the previous two - 6th place.
Thus, for three races, the driver was able to bring his team only eight credits, and he took the thirteenth position in the ranking.
