The current situation on the labor market has significant differences from what it was several decades or even several years ago. Today, the labor market is a dynamic sphere that operates in a market economy and changes depending on its needs. Of course, all this creates certain difficulties in choosing a specialty, because it should be in demand in the market.
Previously, the situation was much simpler, as the employment of citizens was administered by state institutions. In particular, we are talking about distribution, when a young specialist could not worry about providing the first job. Even subsequently, few could have problems finding job options.

In Soviet times, the labor market was an area under the complete control of the state. There was no difficulty in choosing a specialty - if now it is necessary to focus primarily on that activity that will be in demand, then earlier you could choose what you liked more. It should be noted that the modern labor market has not completely abandoned the distribution, but now it has ceased to be mandatory, and it can be met infrequently. Promising young professionals can enter into labor contracts during their studies. In this case, they undergo practical training at the chosen company, and often begin work already at the last courses of study. The practice is very effective, but it is not widespread in order to satisfy all the needs of the market.

Legal and economic specialties are especially popular among young people, however, this trend is gradually becoming a thing of the past - the reason is that even the regional labor market faces problems in finding jobs for such specialists due to their excessive number. As already noted, the labor market is a dynamic structure, and therefore it is natural that an excessive number of applicants reduces the supply of vacancies. At the same time, according to the available vacancies, more stringent requirements are put forward for applicants, as a result of which far not everyone can find a job.
As for the technical specialties, now on the market there are much more vacancies than job seekers. The problem is that engineering specialties are not so "status", and it is more difficult to study as an engineer. On the other hand, a highly qualified engineer can earn much more than a specialist in legal or economic fields.
Considering the fact that the labor market is an unstable structure, the situation may change over time, as a result of which other segments will take first place in the number of attractive vacancies. This situation suggests that one specialty may not be enough - over time, other skills will be required, not only in the framework of advanced training, but also in completely different areas of activity. Constantly improving your professional and educational level is the key to success for building a successful career.
