Because of this, the oxygen content in the air drops sharply, much less precipitation falls on the continents, as a result, so-called desertification threatens large areas. According to the latest data, up to a quarter of all land on the planet can turn into endless Sahara.

Until recently, most of the harmful industrial emissions were absorbed by forests and oceans. But this situation is beginning to change radically. More recently, forests could absorb about half of all industrial emissions into the atmosphere. Another environmental issue facing the modern world is the drainage of swamps. For a fairly long time, everyone believed that this could only be useful. Using this method, additional areas were cultivated to obtain fertile soils, and they were also saved from fires, as there were always a lot of peat on the swampy lowlands, which is easily combustible, capable of destroying whole hectares of forest as a result of careless handling of fire by a person or ridiculous coincidence of circumstances. Only recently have they begun to wonder whether it is necessary to drain the swamps. In fact, this activity, which is carried out by a person, leads, ultimately, to the violation of the ecological balance. The fact is that swamps are global repositories of clean water. Sphagnum mosses have excellent antiseptic properties, becoming a first-class natural filter. Due to the drainage of swamps, the nutrition of rivers decreases, and both small and large water bodies suffer.
Drainage of swamps leads to the death of vegetation, which also requires healing moisture. This primarily concerns berries (cranberries and cloudberries), conifers. Not only the forest located in the immediate vicinity of the drained bogs suffers, but also the landings located at a distance of many tens of kilometers. This is due to groundwater, which act on the principle of communicating vessels. A change in flora is followed by a change in fauna. Birds, fish and invertebrates die.

International associations should appear that will be engaged in the implementation of these projects. Only responsible and qualified people should be allowed to make key decisions. Lobbyists on behalf of the powerful financial institutions and resource companies that are in the first roles today are required to go into the shadows.
