The term โriggingโ dates back to the time when sea vessels still sailed. Then the so-called system of cables, ropes and blocks, designed to control the launching and lifting of sailing equipment, as well as to move large loads from the shore to the hold and back. Times change and words take on new meanings. Today, not only cables and chains are called rigging, but also the entire process of moving and securing bulky goods.
If the load cannot be loaded manually due to its large weight or dimensions, then you have to resort to the services of riggers. Rigging usually involve the use of hoisting mechanisms and safety devices. In this way, you can move any objects, be it machines, containers, building materials, or even assembled houses. When conducting rigging, various mechanisms are used: winches, cranes, jacks, loaders and others. Before lifting to a considerable height, the load must be securely tied with cables or slings to prevent objects from falling. This is done both for the safety of the cargo and for the safety of the people around it.
The whole process is more complicated than it looks from the outside. Relocated loads must be reliably fixed, centered, excluded any possibility of falling or turning over objects. For this, special rules have been developed and personnel involved in rigging should undergo preliminary training and have a supporting document with them. Rigging works are classified as dangerous, and their implementation is regulated by an admission order, which indicates the type and place of work, lists the participants and appoints a responsible person.
A reliable rigging company is responsible for the safety of the cargo and the safety of personnel. For this, a contract is concluded with the client, and the cargo, health and life of employees must be insured.
Rigging is very common in all sectors of the economy. In addition to directly performing work, many companies also provide rigging services. Despite the similarity of names, services differ from rigging. They include the packaging of goods before loading or transportation, the manufacture of special devices for transportation and storage: pallets, custom boxes, containers.
