The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore is one of the stages of the royal stages and is held annually for the past 10 years. The race was first held in Southeast Asia in 2008. The debut stage in Singapore started on September 26, 2008 with free practice, and the race itself was held on September 28 at 20:00 local time. Grand Prix became the 800th in a row in the history of hauls.
During qualifying races, the best time was shown by the Brazilian Felipe Massa from Ferrari. In second place was Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes. The right to start from the second line according to the results of qualification was won by Raikkonen and Kubica.
During the first 13 laps in the race there were no particular changes. However, the accident with the participation of Nelson Piquet significantly affected the outcome of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore . The Renault driver deliberately crashed his car, because of which a safety car drove onto the track. This allowed laggards to catch up with a group of leaders.
The situation with the accident took advantage of Fernando Alonso. Singapore Grand Prix in 2009 was the fourteenth stage of the season. Based on the qualification results, the British Lewis Hamilton won the pole, who a year earlier managed to win a bronze medal on this track. From the second line in the race started Sebastian Vettel, who lost half a second to his opponent. The 3rd and 4th positions according to the results of qualification races were taken by German Nico Rosberg and Australian Mark Webber, respectively. Before Sunday's start, Barichello received a penalty, and Heidfeld was disqualified.
The victory in the race was won by Lewis Hamilton. He was in the lead for 57 laps, losing the first line during the race only once during a pit stop race. The second place at the finish was taken by the German Timo Glock from Toyota, and the third was Fernando Alonso, who became the author of the fastest lap.
