How to independently connect the parking sensors? DIY installation

An interesting fact: one of the most common reasons why traffic accidents occur in cities is incorrect parking in reverse. That is why many cars, even in basic configurations, are equipped with a special sensor - parking sensors. In fact, these are several radars installed at bumper points that scan the distance of the vehicle to the nearest car or some other โ€œobstructionโ€. All indications of this scanner are displayed on the front panel in the cabin. However, we will not analyze the intricacies of the operation of this tool, but simply consider how to install the parking sensors with your own hands.

Choose a place

First of all, you need to figure out exactly where this or that sensor will work. In fact, it picks up the signal at any height, however, so that the readings are most accurate, the drivers mount it inside the bumper. In this case, the power element is removed, and small holes are drilled at several points. To install parking sensors with your own hands, you need to drill from 2 to 8 holes in the bumper. How many holes will be exactly depends on the type and model of the parking sensors themselves. Accordingly, the more sensors, the more difficult the installation will be, because to each of them you need to individually connect a series of wires.

Installation method

Depending on which model the parking sensors will be , do- it- yourself installation can be done in two ways. In particular, this applies to the same sensors. There is an invoice and mortise installation. The latter, by the way, is the most common among Russian motorists. We will use it. To do this, you need to make several holes in the bumper (one for each sensor), and you need to drill them not with a drill, but with a milling cutter. It is usually already included.

Distance

So, we independently install parking sensors in the bumper. Do-it-yourself installation (again, this applies to sensors) must be carried out with a certain distance of these devices. Place them around the perimeter of the power shock element so that they are evenly spaced from each other. This is necessary in order for the sensor to be able to recognize โ€œdead zonesโ€, due to which parking accidents mainly occur.

Mount parking sensors: do-it-yourself wiring installation

We already figured out the most difficult part of the installation, now it remains only to connect the necessary wires. Note that mortise sensors have special sealed connectors, thanks to which you can quickly and easily connect the wires. The latter should be connected to the wires coming from the brake light. In principle, after that we will have a ready-made and functioning parking sensors. DIY installation at this stage is completed. Additionally, you can make the button to turn off the front parking radar. This is done so that the parking sensors in the traffic jam do not screech when you are closely approaching the car ahead.
