With the arrival of warm spring days, summer residents try to spend maximum time on their sites. But after exhausting physical work, it would not hurt to relax. Unfortunately, not everyone has a fully-equipped house in addition to the garden. Therefore, many would like to use a hammock as a place of rest (photo 1). But then you have to decide how and where to hang it, choosing the right place. But there is another solution to this problem - you can make a stand for a hammock with your own hands and install it where it is most convenient.
Briefly from the story
It turns out that America is the historical homeland of the hammock, and the Indigenous people are the direct inventors of the unusual bed. The reason for hanging up places for rest and sleep was not at all the desire to soak up under the light breath of a fresh breeze, but the desire to protect oneself from snake bites and insects crawling on the ground. In addition, the climate made it possible not to think about significant temperature fluctuations within a day. A special merit also belongs to the mariners who delivered this invention to Europe. But in those days, only trees and other suitable vertical places were used as support and fasteners. Most recently, people realized that it is very convenient to have a hammock stand. Then the "bed" can be used both outdoors and indoors. Consider what kind of coasters are and what is the principle of their manufacture. And on the example of one of the models we will analyze the phased order of work.

How to choose a hammock stand? Description of the most common types
All designs are classified primarily by their external configuration:
- suspended;
- having a monolithic frame;
- fastened on a precast rack.
The latter are most convenient to use, since they occupy a minimum of space and, if necessary, can be quickly assembled and installed. As the materials for the manufacture of most coasters, metal or wooden blocks are used. Designs vary in form. Among non-separable frames, the most stable are considered curved in the form of an arc (photo 2). Such models, in addition to practicality, also have a very attractive appearance. Stands for “sitting” hammocks are slightly different in design.
How to make a hammock stand (photo 3)? The main stages of work
It is quite simple to craft a design for securing the mesh bed at home. Consider in general terms what a simple hammock stand should look like. The sizes given in this example are standard and can be changed depending on the design features of the “lying” zone - length, depth, width of the canvas. All indications in the table are given in centimeters.
Part Name | Width | Length | Thickness | Number of details |
Horizontal bottom base | 5-10 | 72 | 3 | 2 |
Transverse lower bases | 5-10 | 40 | 2 | 2 |
Side diagonal guides | 5-10 | 48 | 3 | 2 |
Slanting fasteners connecting the long base to the side parts | 5 | On the top line -29 On the bottom line - 17 | 3 | 2 |
Features of the technology of joining some parts
When making a stand for a hammock with your own hands, it is worth paying special attention to the reliability of the connection of all parts. In case of poor-quality work, there is a danger at any time, especially when rocking, to violate the integrity of the structure, which can lead to injury from a person falling in a mesh hanging bed. Therefore, note (for example, photo 4) that when lengthening the diagonal guides and, accordingly, increasing the entire structure, the load on the fasteners increases significantly. For greater reliability, use slanting rails, which are additionally mounted on top, connecting the base of the stand and the side part. It is also possible to make two or three instead of one screw through hole, distributing them in several places of the lower support.
The choice of devices for babies
When purchasing a children's stand for a hammock or making it with your own hands, you must consider the presence of several mandatory properties of the product:
- Stability of the design. The most reliable are double-base coasters. So, for example, the product described above can be made slightly different - supplement the diagonal guides with another detail (which will make the “sides” in the form of a triangle), and supplement the horizontal bearing with the parallel part.
- Reliability of the assembly. It is most advisable to opt for integral structures, that is, assembled only once after purchase, and not constantly.
- The practicality of the product. Many models, especially for the smallest ones, can additionally have a number of devices - a protective mosquito net, a sunshade, a swing limiter, etc. Of course, such coasters will have a higher cost. Therefore, when purchasing a product, specify the general functionality.
As you can see, such a simple product as a hammock can become not only a useful item, but also a fairly modern designer little thing that can decorate any interior.
