How to prepare wax for a candlestick?
You can put a finished candle in a jar candle, or you can pour wax into it. Everyone decides for himself what type he needs.
To fill the wax in a glass container, it must first be prepared. To do this, take a piece of material and cut it into small cubes. Place chopped wax in a saucepan. Turn on the stove and place a pot of water on the burner, and place a bowl of wax on top. Make a water bath. Stir the wax with a wooden stick. Until it completely melts.
Then turn off the stove and, without removing the saucepan with wax, add the necessary additives: aromatic oils, dyes, and more. Mix everything thoroughly with a wooden stick.
Wax is ready. Remember that it can freeze very quickly. Therefore, immediately make a candle out of it.
The easiest way to make a candlestick out of a jar
Master class on how to make a candlestick from a jar:
- Prepare the wax: melt it and mix with additives.
- Take the jar and fasten the wick inside it. To do this, put wax on one end of the cord or use a special tablet clamp and lower it to the bottom of the container using a tube (see picture above).
- Fasten the other end of the wick so that it does not fall inward. To do this, wind it on a wooden skewer or make a special clip (see picture above).
- Slowly, so that the wick does not move and does not fall, pour liquid wax into a glass container.
- When the wax hardens from above, you can remove the wick mount.
- If a recess has formed in the candle, fill in the remaining wax.
If you want a striped candle, fill in the wax, alternating colors and let each row dry.

Candle holder with window
Thanks to the technique proposed below, you can make many candlesticks that will be different and at the same time made in the same style.
Master class on making a candlestick with a window:
- Take a glass jar, stick a piece of masking tape on its wall. If the stripes are thin, then make several rows superimposed on each other.
- Cut out the silhouette of the pasted tape. In our example, this is a heart.
- Remove excess tape from the can, leaving only the silhouette of the figure on the wall.
- Paint the jar. It is most convenient to use a spray can. To do this, twist several newspapers into a tube and put a jar on them. Paint evenly the entire surface of the glass container. If necessary, make another layer. Instead of spray can use acrylic paint. But it dries longer.
- When the paint dries, peel off the masking tape with something and remove it.
- Garnish the neck of the jar with twine or ribbon.
- Place a candle inside.

Candlesticks made of small glass jars
Many people think that the best candlesticks come from tall or wide jars. After all, you can place a lot of decor on them and, due to their size, there is a large field for creativity. But in fact, you can make a very beautiful candlestick from a can of baby food. Sometimes just a couple of any touches are enough and the wonderful decor is ready!
Here are some examples of how to make cute candle holders from small jars:
- Cut a small piece of lace that can clasp the jar in diameter, but it will be narrower than the walls of the container. Fasten the edges of the lace with a glue gun. Tie the twine on top. The result was a candlestick in the style of shabby chic.
- Glue some parts of the can with glue. You can draw glue strips, draw patterns, shapes, and the like. Sprinkle a jar of sparkles (shimmer) or salt (it can be painted with crayons to give color). Allow the glue to dry, and then brush out the extra grains of sand with a brush.
- Cut a piece of fabric or lace. Put the jar in the center of the shred and raise the edges of the material. Spread the fabric over the jar and tie a ribbon or twine on the neck of the jar. Trim the excess material so that it does not accidentally catch fire.
- Pour some cereals or coffee beans into the jar (the capacity is small, so the product will be low in consumption). Layer height do any. Place a tablet candle on the loose filler. Such a candlestick will look especially beautiful in the kitchen and will take on the function of decoration.
- Draw a pattern or stencil on the walls of the jar with acrylic paint.
It is worth noting that in addition to tablet candles, ordinary candles can also be put in glass candle holders.
