Preparatory stage
In order to work on the task of manufacturing a wooden shelf, it will be necessary to prepare a cordless screwdriver. It is necessary to choose a tool with a self-locking chuck whose caliber is 10 mm or more. In addition, you will also need a jigsaw. In order to get even edges, you need to purchase wood files. It is worth buying and a miter box, which can have a price within 30 dollars. A puncher, as well as a set of drills for working on wood, will come in handy. In order to make the shelf aesthetically pleasing and even, roulette and a marker are useful. The process will not be possible without a spatula and brushes. You can do not just hinged shelves, but a prefabricated structure, which suggests the presence of hidden fasteners.
Blanks
A flower shelf made of wood with your own hands can be made using a wooden bar, the cross section of which is 40x40 mm. The final length will be determined by the number and parameters of the shelves. Prepare plywood with a thickness of 5 mm. As the most acceptable option is eurofacre, as it is devoid of all kinds of base defects. Stock up with the usual platband, which should have a width equal to 50 mm, and be made of wood. In the end result, the shelves will have to be coated with paint, and if the products will have defects before, then you can get rid of them by applying putty. Accessories are almost not needed.
Parameter Definition
A self-made wooden shelf can have any size, but in this example, dimensions equal to 800x300 mm will be considered. The thickness of the material will be 50 mm. Initially, it is necessary to prepare the elements for the described shelf. For this, a block in the amount of two pieces is useful (720 mm); a couple more bars (300 mm), as well as plywood in the same amount (800x300 mm).
Platbands are recommended to be cut on a miter box, and their thickness in the described sizes is not taken into account, since it can turn out to be different.
Assembly process
If a wooden shelf is made with your own hands, then you should not assume that it will be just a board, fastened to the wall by means of corners, since the structure, as mentioned above, will be a prefabricated one. Using a pair of short and one long block, the last of which will be the front, it is necessary to assemble the frame. To do this, it is permissible to twist it using self-tapping screws. You can take black, 4x80. The main condition is the need to try to make a smooth pairing.
As soon as a wooden shelf with your own hands is turned into a U-shaped frame, you can fix plywood on it from both sides using staples. If there is a desire to make the structure as strong as possible, then surfaces to be bonded in advance should be coated with PVA glue. If the adhesive composition will not be used, then you will additionally have to apply self-tapping screws.
Now the miter box comes into play. It will allow to gash the clypeus, in the end, an angle of 45 0 should be obtained . This will decorate unaesthetic ends. It also needs to be smeared with glue and further strengthened with staples. Instead of such mechanical fasteners, “invisible” cloves can be used, this eliminates the need to putty the surface for a long time.
Shelf surface treatment
After the shelf was made of wood with your own hands, you can proceed to the work on its refinement. To do this, all irregularities are covered with putty, and after drying, they are processed with fine sandpaper. If it is supposed to use glossy paint in the painting work, then it is necessary to coat with a primer and grind with special care until you can get the perfect surface. Such manipulations are recommended 2 times. This must be done even before the shelf is installed on the wall surface, since after such work it will be very difficult to carry out.
Mounting the shelf to the wall
After the shelf with your own hands was made of wood and painted, it should be left until the composition has completely dried out, only then it will be possible to start further work. The shelf made according to the above recommendations is a kind of hollow box, which is open only on one side. The remaining block, which is similar to what is located in front, will be the completion of the design, as well as fasteners. Its fixation to the wall surface must be carried out by means of a building level or other similar tool, since you have to ensure perfect horizontalness. When working with a punch, in any case, accidental damage to the electrical wiring must not be allowed, it is worth remembering that the pipes of the water supply system can be located in the wall, so you need to work very carefully.
A wood mantelpiece can be made in the same way. In order to mount to the wall, it is necessary to fix the rear beam to the surface. It should perfectly enter the empty space of the shelf. In order to ensure this, it is necessary to reduce it somewhat. This will make the installation process much easier. At the next stage, the shelf is put on a beam and is strengthened through plywood located on top. This must be done with self-tapping screws. The location of the fasteners in this place will not be noticeable, since something will stand on the shelf.
If such a shelf for books with wooden hands is made of wood, then it will be possible to put various objects on it, the total weight of which is 10 kg, but no more. Dimensions can be selected independently, which will affect the needs of the owners.
Making shoe racks
For the manufacture of shelves for shoes with dimensions 900h350h524 mm to be used chipboard. Initially fixed side walls and stiffener. The next step will be the addition of the base and the bottom - a reinforced shelf. Now you can install the boxes in the shelf system. Next is the top cover, which is installed to the back wall.
The final stage
When a shoe rack is made of wood with one's own hands, the photo of the manufacturing process of which is presented in the article (see above), the top cover should be fixed using door hinges. Shelf supports can be installed and put the middle shelf. The holes for the shelf holders can be located at different levels, this will allow you to make distances for different shoes, for example, for shoes and slippers.
