Having done the rack ceiling with your own hands, you can transform the room beyond recognition. However, in most cases, the installation of such structures is resorted to in the design of bathrooms, sanitary facilities and pools. Such ceilings took their place in the construction market due to moisture resistance, a long service life, relatively low weight and ease of installation.
In fact, a rack
suspended ceiling consists of metal or plastic elements. It assumes the existence of a special system for fixing the strips made of one or another material.
In principle, it’s quite possible to assemble a rack ceiling with your own hands, but first you will have to spend time going to the store, and immediately before that you need to make accurate measurements of the room. If the number of corners exceeds four, it is recommended to purchase an additional support rail, otherwise installation is unlikely to be possible. After purchasing the product, you need to make sure that all the components are present in full, otherwise it will be difficult to prove something later.
So, we do a rack ceiling with our own hands. And start with the markup. First of all, you need to understand at what level to lower the structure. If it is supposed to use spotlights, then add another two or three centimeters to the desired height.
If there are no mentioned bulbs, it is better not to lower the boundaries of the ceiling below 100 - 150 mm. Using a pencil and a level, a horizontal line around the perimeter is marked on the wall surface. Next, a support rail is installed, which in most cases has a large length. If necessary, it can be cut with metal scissors. Bearing elements should be removed from the edges of the wall by about 25 - 30 centimeters.
We continue to assemble the rack ceiling with our own hands. Now we need to fix the iron strips with suspensions. After that, you can proceed to fixing the panels to the finished structure. Measurement is taken from the edge of the wall to the end of the profile opposite it. If the length is longer, you risk spoiling the metal element. Having cut off several panels and profiles, you can start the installation. The edge of the first component is inserted into a special groove of the end profile, after which it is inserted into the groove of the other and fixed in the carrier rail. After the second element, an intermediate profile is established between them.
By the way, the
aluminum rack ceiling is mounted in the same way. It should be noted that in rare cases, the panel lies tightly on the end profile. This unpleasant situation can be corrected by inserting between them (from the inside) a two-centimeter segment of the intermediate profile. Particular attention will have to be paid to the last panel. You can consider luck if you fix it to be whole. Otherwise, you will need to spend a sufficient amount of time. To carry out the measurement and put the last element, you need to cut the previous one, applying an intermediate profile.
