There are many varieties of rivets. Some have the form of a single part - the sleeve, which is inserted into the hole and with the help of a special rivet, expand the edges of the sleeve on the other side of the parts to be joined and press (flatten). Here, a screwdriver (or drill) will come to the rescue with a metal drill selected for the diameter of the rivet. Proceed as follows:

1. With a core, make a notch on the rivet hat so that the drill does not walk, although some are used to doing without serifs.
2. Install the screwdriver drill on the cap and drill out the rivets inside.
3. When the drill goes through, the rest of the cap and the extended part fall out on their own.

Rivets on clothes

But rivets are also used in the manufacture of various types of clothing. Their use began in the 19th century, when sewing pants made of coarse canvas, which will later be called jeans, one of the masters noted that if the stitch is riveted at the beginning, it will certainly not break and will not tear.

Here rivets are used, which are more suitable for the name of the “button”. Unlike ordinary ones, they consist of two parts - internal and external. Everything is held by the fact that the head of one element enters the cavity of another. Then, under the pressure of the riveter, the head of the inner element flattens (expands) inside the cavity of the outer element, and such a “super button” can no longer be broken, no matter how you strain. Rather, the fabric will tear. How to rivet rivets of such varieties?

Removing rivets from clothes

This is done in two ways. One with side cutters, the other with a knife and a pair of pliers. The choice of methods depends on whether your rivet is alpha (inner) or beta (outer). The corners and edges of the stitching are mainly riveted with alpha varieties, which are also called grommets. Beta is used in cases of buttons that fasten clothes. One part is alpha, and beta is riveted to it. Despite the fact that such rivets hold excellent material, they are afraid of mechanical impact.

How to rivet alpha rivets with a knife and two pliers?

1. Carefully, so as not to damage the fabric, insert a sharp knife blade under the edge of the wide part of the rivet on one side and bend it so that you can grab the edge with pliers.
2. Do the same with the opposite part of the rivet. Insert the blade of the knife and bend the edge.
   
3. Grasp the edges of some pliers for the outer bent part of the rivet, and the others for the edge of the back bent part.
4. Pull in different directions and the inside will come out of the outside.

And how to rivet a beta rivet on clothes? It is still simpler here. The procedure is as follows:

1. Take clothes by turning the widened (bent) part of the rivet sticking out inside the pressure washer.
2. Take the side cutters (it is advisable to use those on the pliers), set them under the very bottom of the expanded part and squeeze.
   
3. Turn and squeeze again.
4. At some point, the top element will jump off the bottom itself. Or when there is enough space between it and the bottom element, the inner part included in the pressure washer can simply be eaten without harm to the material.
