At one time, Swedish scientists developed wooden gymnastic stairs to perform a set of special exercises. Thanks to their developers, these days they are called wooden Swedish walls.
Children's sports corner
Throughout the world, the Swedish wall is a symbol of sport, a healthy lifestyle and good physical fitness. She is considered the most versatile and functional simulator. With success it is used not only in gyms, but also in the apartment. To strengthen the health of the child, regular physical education requires a small sports corner. The kit may include a rope or rope ladder, horizontal bars, gymnastic rings, trapezoid. The kit can be replenished as needed. Despite the fact that the choice of sports equipment is huge, a wooden Swedish wall for children is an invariable element of a sports corner and is in almost every home. It does not take up much space. The fixture is simple and can be made with your own hands.
Material selection
On sale are widely represented wooden Swedish walls. But it’s best to do the work yourself. In this case, the shape, size and design can be correlated with the size of the room and financial capabilities. For work, no drawings are required. After all, the Swedish wall is essentially a staircase.
Coniferous wood, ash, beech - this is the main material from which a children's Swedish wall can be made. The wooden surface is pleasant to the touch, has a fancy wood pattern, is an environmentally friendly material. For work, you will need two bars for vertical racks (150x3000 mm, section 50 mm). As the crossbars, you can use a shovel stalk. Their number depends on the height of the room and, accordingly, the stairs. They are sold in hardware or hardware stores. It will take two pieces of plywood 22 mm thick for the construction of the upper crossbar holder. All lumber should be dry, smooth, even and without knots. We need metal corners, furniture bolts or ties, confirmations and glue.
Preparation of individual items
The classic configuration of the Swedish wall is L-shaped. To make it, you will need an electric jigsaw, a drill, a pen drill or a hole cutter, an emery cloth, a drill and a confirm key, a screwdriver or a screwdriver.
The first stage is the preparation of the racks. Non-through holes are drilled on the bars every 200-230 mm with a depth of about 20 mm. It is better to drill the holes not in the middle, but closer to the outer edge, so that when using the foot is placed on the step and does not rest against the wall. At this stage, you can screw the corners with screws to attach to the wall. The surface of the bars is cleaned with an emery cloth. Then, two blanks are cut from plywood for fastening the upper crossbar. In shape they somewhat resemble the letter "G". Therefore, a wooden Swedish wall with a horizontal bar has an L-shaped configuration. Shanks from shovels are cut into parts with a length of 500-600 mm. These are future crossbars. All construction details are carefully sanded, to reduce labor costs, you can use a grinder. To give a specific color to the details, you can treat the stain.
Assembly of the complex
When all the parts are ready and processed with sandpaper, smooth and smooth, without roughness - you can assemble the structure together. In one of the racks, which are in a horizontal position, in the prepared holes, crossbars are inserted, previously coated with glue (this can be either PVA or “Moment”). Parts must fit snugly into the holes. The second rack is put on top of them. It is important to correctly calculate, mark and drill holes so that they are easy to combine and assemble the ladder. Each crossbar is drilled into the end face through the rack and fastened with a confirmative. The operation is done from two sides. With the help of furniture bolts or ties, “ears” are attached to the upper part of the stairs for the device of the horizontal bar (about 600 mm extension). At least four fasteners must be made on each side for reliability. Wooden Swedish walls are varnished with water-based varnish in several layers. And the last moment: the heads of the confirmations of the finished design are closed with decorative caps.

Installation and Mounting
L-shaped sports corners are most convenient in small-sized apartments. They occupy a little space, and are attached to the wall of the room. After the structure dries well, it can be installed in the chosen place.
To perform various exercises around the wall should be free space. There can be no ceiling suspended structures nearby. Plasterboard walls should not surround the sports corner; the system cannot be mounted on them.
To firmly fix the structure to the wall, you need to attach three metal corners at different heights to each rack. At the right level, holes are drilled in the wall. Then, anchor bolts are driven into them through holes in the corners. And now the Swedish wall is wooden made with your own hands. Before allowing the child to engage in it, adults should try the structure for strength.
Features and Security
If desired, the sports corner can be upgraded. In addition, hang a rope, rings or rope ladder. Swedish wooden walls have one drawback: the maximum allowable load on the side racks is 120 kg, and for the crossbars - 80 kg. For classes it is necessary to purchase a gymnastic mat that will protect the child in the event of a fall. There should not be furniture with hard edges and corners near the complex. Periodically check the reliability of the fasteners and the integrity of the individual elements. During operation, do not exceed the recommended load weight (simultaneous occupation of several children is prohibited).
The Swedish wall is a universal simulator for homework. Children of different age groups and adults can be engaged. Exercise will help the child strengthen muscles, prevent impaired posture and scoliosis, develop perseverance, tenacity, determination and courage. And maybe they will help to educate the future athlete and champion.
