Today it is not the notorious six hundredths with plots and a shed for storing equipment, but a beautiful house and garden, created in accordance with all the rules of landscape design. Of course, when arranging the territory, garden paths are indispensable. They serve not only as a link between the individual zones, but also complete the overall compositional solution.
Arrangement of garden paths made of wood and stone - the task is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. To functionally organize the space, some knowledge from the field of construction and design will be required.
Before starting work on the device tracks need to determine their location. As a rule, the path is laid along the shortest distance from one object to another. Often, to assess the prospect, garden paths are made of sand and only then they are laid out with tiles or wooden saw cuts.
You should not lose sight of such an important point as the choice of material for flooring. If you decide to make garden paths with your own hands, but do not have special talents for construction, it is better to give preference to wood or brick. The first is suitable for most modern style solutions, except, perhaps, hi-tech and modern. But for these cases, option number two is quite suitable.
The master "golden hands" will be able to not only pave the paths with his own hands, but also to make paving slabs right in his garden. Fortunately, there are many devices for this. However, we will not delve into these wilds, but try to figure out what is simpler. Let's start with how to make garden paths with your own hands from ordinary wood. For this purpose, a log or timber is suitable. However, if the site has old fruit trees, this is an excellent reason to get rid of them.
For arranging garden paths, dies are used, the thickness of which varies from 10 to 20 cm. The first thing to do is to outline and cut the wood into pieces of the desired size. As you know, this material is very sensitive to weather and biological factors. Therefore, if you want the paths to serve for a long time, the wood must be treated with a special antiseptic composition. Drying oil is also suitable for timber, which is previously applied in several layers and left to dry.
Antiseptic impregnation is most conveniently carried out in a deep container, where the wood is completely immersed. The whole process takes about 48 hours. After the specified time, the dies are left in the open air for drying.
Making garden paths out of wood with your own hands is not so difficult. With this simple task, even a beginner will cope. First you need to remove the top layer of turf along the width of the future path, to a depth of 30 cm. This is done not only to keep individual elements better, but also so that the track does not flood with every rainfall. First sand is poured into the resulting pit, then gravel. In this way, a drainage layer is created which promotes good moisture absorption. On top of this "pillow", with a minimum gap, lay dies. The gaps between them are covered with fine gravel.
The border allows you to give the finished track a finished look. Edged board or brick is quite suitable for our case. However, if you want to do everything well, it’s very beautiful, but not too lazy to tinker, the fence can be built from separate, tightly fitted pegs. Do not forget that in this case, the tree needs special preliminary processing.
Brick walkways are stronger and more durable, although not as beautiful as wooden ones. But to build them is much easier. Most often, red brick is used for this purpose, although silicate brick is also quite suitable.
The device of the track, in this case, also begins by removing the turf layer to a depth of 15 cm. Then, the recess is covered with sand, which is watered. The drainage layer is rammed, laying out a slide with a slope from the central axis of the future path.
Brick during installation is adjusted as closely as possible, leaving a minimum gap, rammed and then watered. The border for such a path can be made of bricks placed diagonally or lying vertically. Edged board is quite suitable for such a case.
I must say that these garden paths with their own hands can be made from waste accumulated during the construction of a house. Broken brick, crushed stone, sand, cement will be used.
