AU Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of Ugra "Ugra Chess Academy" was opened in 2010. Immediately, she began to take an active part in chess life.
Activities
It was here that shortly after the opening, elections were held for the post of president of the International Chess Federation. And already in September of the following year, the World Chess Cup was held at the academy. The next year was also busy for the Ugra Chess Academy. It was here that the World Cup for Women and the women's chess tournament in the framework of the Summer Universiade took place. In 2013, such a significant tournament was held here as the World Rapid Chess and Blitz Championship. This list can be continued for a long time, every year Khanty-Mansiysk welcomes guests from all over the world of various ages, not to mention the large number of ongoing regional tournaments, competitions of international and all-Russian level.
Construction
About the building is worth telling separately. The construction of the Ugra Chess Academy lasted two years. The design was done by a famous Dutch architect Eric van Egeraat. During the construction of the academy, the latest technologies and the most modern materials were used, a unique combination of wood and glass was used. The building is quite original in its architecture, in the world there are very few. Amazing three-level construction has no corners, covers an area of more than 3000 square meters. m. and stylized as a chess piece. It is not surprising that this building received the honorary title “House of the Year”.
Infrastructure
Inside the building there are classrooms, a cafe, a recreation area, and Internet access is available. The tournament hall of the Ugra Chess Academy is amazing. A large tribune, capable of accommodating a large number of spectators, gathers at one moment in ordinary regiments. The second element of the transformer is the wall, which can be moved apart and separated half of the room for meetings or conferences. At each tournament, parties are commented on by invited professionals, and spectators have the opportunity to receive qualified information about the current game. A separate room is organized for this. In the computer class, players are already analyzing games.
There is a place in the academy where people like to bring guests. In the rest room, they will proudly tell you about the famous students of the Ugra Chess Academy, and show photos. And there is reason for pride: Olga Girya, Dmitry Yakovenko and many other eminent chess players defend the honor of their district in various competitions.
In the academy itself, life is in full swing. Not a day goes by so that competitions are not held here. Boys and girls come here to learn something new about the great game. The coaches only help them in this, sometimes they conduct sessions of the simultaneous game, share experiences with young chess players. The Ugra Chess Academy has created all conditions for people with disabilities. This is more than just a chess school, it is a place of association of people of all ages and social categories devoted to their favorite game.
Modern technologies
The academy keeps up to date, using modern technologies in training. As already mentioned, numerous students have Internet access right in the classroom and can use a computer class, for example, to analyze their own games with a trainer. In addition, the Ugra Chess Academy practices individual distance learning with the best chess players of the district and with schoolchildren. The Academy also organizes online tournaments. To make this work possible, the most modern technologies are used, for example, the Chess Education software package.
The Chess Academy of Khanty-Mansiysk during its existence managed to make a significant contribution to the development of chess around the world and continues to actively develop its activities.
