Jules Bianchi: vibrant life and the tragic death of a French race car driver

On October 5, 2014, a tragedy occurred at Formula 1 racing that claimed the life of a young driver Jules Bianchi. The competition took place in bad weather conditions, and this was the cause of the accident, the consequences of which the French race driver fought for a long 9 months ... and, unfortunately, lost.

Biography: family, career start

Jules Bianchi was born in the south of France, in Nice, on August 3, 1989. In his family, he was not the only racer. His grandfather Mauro Bianchi is a famous race car driver and three times world champion in the GT class, and Lucien, brother of Mauro, took part in the Formula 1 competitions 19 times from 1959 to 1968. If we add to this that the father of Jules Bianchi Philippe owned his own karting track, on which the young man could train without hindrance, it is clear that his fate was a foregone conclusion. Since childhood, he dreamed of speed, adrenaline and cars. Almost from its first competition, Jules Bianchi announced himself with all his might. Participating in the Russian team Marussia, he earned points that other pilots could not earn before, and raised his team to the prize place.

Personal life

The life of Jules Bianchi was very bright, but short. The same can be said about his personal life. He was an attractive young man, and the girls always paid him a lot of attention. His last girlfriend was Camille Marketa, they were connected by a rather serious relationship that lasted for several years and could well lead to a wedding. But this was not destined to come true. All the dreams of a wedding, children, family dinners were cut off by the wet Japanese Grand Prix road.

Crash

On the 46th lap they stopped the Formula 1 race on October 5, 2014. The reason was a serious accident Jules Bianchi. Around earlier, the German car Adrian Sutil flew off the track at the same bend and crashed into a chipper. Adrian himself was not injured and left the cockpit a few minutes earlier, but Jules Bianchi, who was following him, was less fortunate - at a speed of 126 km / h he crashed into a tow truck that worked at the scene of the accident and hit his head on the counterweight.

In amateur photography, it can be seen that the car frame was almost completely destroyed, and the impact force was such that the Adriana car, which had been raised into the air by that time, fell to the ground.

The medical team immediately arrived at the scene of the accident, and within a few minutes, Jules Bianchi was taken to the medical center, where he underwent an emergency operation and the brain hematoma was removed. Unfortunately, after conducting another examination, the doctors concluded that the man has diffuse axonal damage to the brain. Later, doctors will say that only a miracle can save Jules. In November, the rider who began to breathe on his own was transferred from the hospital in Mie, Japan, home, to France, to the hospital of the University Center in Nice.

Jules Bianchi struggled with the death of a long 9 months, but on July 17, 2015 in the Nice hospital, his battle came to an end. He did not live to see his 26th birthday in just two weeks.

Parents thanked all the staff of the Japanese and French clinics in which they fought for the life of their son, as well as friends and acquaintances who were worried about him. They said they were ready for such an outcome, but somewhere deep down they believed in a miracle.

The funeral

Farewell to the young race car driver was held on July 21, 2015 in the Cathedral of Saint Reparta. All his friends and colleagues came to say goodbye.

The funeral of Jules Bianchi took place in his homeland - in Nice. At his request, the ashes were scattered over the Mediterranean Sea.

The funeral of Jules Bianchi

His death was the first in the history of Formula 1 since the distant 1994, when Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberg died on the highway.

Now is the time to remember that back in 1998, the former Formula 1 driver, British television commentator Martin Brandl, said words that were prophetic to Jules Bianchi:

I am always horrified when they take the John Deere tractor to the track. If one car appeared in that place, then all cars can. One day someone will be under this tractor, and it scares me a lot. In Hungary, they generally brought giant JCB loaders to the track, I donโ€™t even know what itโ€™s worse to be under.

Over the long 16 years, no one has ever responded to these words, and heavy equipment continued to go on the track during the competition. The FIA โ€‹โ€‹needed entertainment, and the federation got it - at the cost of the life of a young race car driver.

For Jules' relatives, much remained incomprehensible in that accident, and they do not give up hope to someday find answers to all their questions. Why didnโ€™t you change the set of tires, which was designed to ride on a dry road, if there was a heavy downpour? Why didnโ€™t they suspend the race while working on the heavy equipment track? Why does the FIA โ€‹โ€‹act as a judge in the investigation of this accident, if it should be an accomplice? So many "why" ... And "Maroussia", as in the case of the deceased race car driver Maria de Villota, will again come out of the water dry.

Jules Bianchi

Always young, as in the photo, Jules Bianchi will remain so in the memory of thousands of people. The rider appeared in Formula 1 at number 17. This number is withdrawn from circulation.
