Hyacinth at home: cultivation and care

The most various types of flowers that can be seen on our sites and window sills came to us from the Mediterranean. Such is hyacinth - a flower to which even the most avid flower growers cannot remain indifferent. Most often, hyacinth can be seen on personal plots and flower beds, but not everyone knows that hyacinth can also be grown at home. Having correctly prepared the plant for planting, and giving it everything necessary for growth, the hyacinth subsequently will present with a luxurious inflorescence of flowers, somewhat reminiscent of a bell.

Perhaps the hardest thing will be to grow hyacinth at home from the bulb. Of course, you can buy ready-made seedlings and save yourself from some trouble, but all those who have purchased the bulbs should get acquainted with what hyacinth care is at home.

The first and foremost is the preparation of the land. The soil should consist of elements such as composter, sheet earth, turf, sand and peat. It is worth paying attention to the fact that sand does not spill out to the bottom of the pot, as is usually the case, but to the upper layer of soil, where the bulb will directly plant. The pot for planting hyacinth should be medium in size. Bulb planting depends on when you want to bloom. If for the New Year, then the landing should occur no later than the end of September, if in the spring, then two months later. After planting the bulb, it must be allowed to take root. To do this, put the pot with hyacinth in a dark, cool place. Watering should be moderate, excessive amounts of fluid can cause the plant to rot. Until the first sprouts appear, about two months will pass. As soon as they come out, the plant is transferred to a bright place, while the air temperature should not be higher than 14-150C. But when the first buds appear, then hyacinth can be safely transferred to the room. In this growth period, you need to ensure that there are no drafts, and direct sunlight does not fall on the plant itself . In principle, growing hyacinth at home until the buds appeared was the most difficult. It should be noted that the removal of bulb sprouts to a lighted place is of particular importance. If you do this earlier, when the bulb has not yet shown obvious signs of life, hyacinth will grow weak, and flowering may not occur at all.

But you should not relax on this, hyacinth at home needs constant and uninterrupted care. The most important thing is to provide it with good lighting and sufficient watering. About 12-15 hours, hyacinth should take a "light bath". If you can’t provide the flower with natural light, you will have to use artificial light by directing light from the lamps onto the hyacinth. After flowering ceases, the fallen flowers need to be removed, and for some time to continue watering the plant. When hyacinth is gaining strength, it should be transplanted. Thus, the process described above begins anew.

Do not miss such a moment as fertilizing a flower. This is done already from the moment when the bulb sprouts the first sprouts. For these purposes, a mixture of nitrate and phosphate is used, and when flower buds are already formed, a mixture of phosphate and potassium is taken for feeding. Before fertilizing the soil, it should be thoroughly loosened.

Many flower growers love hyacinth at home because, unlike some other flower plants, it has good immunity to pests and diseases. And yet sometimes he fails to avoid problems. If black dots appeared on the leaves, or maybe large stripes, and the bulb was covered with mucus, this indicates that the plant is affected by rot. There is nothing left but to destroy the flower and acquire a new one.
