The name of Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun has long been associated with FC Spartak. For over 13 years this person has been the owner of the club. He did a lot for the development of Spartak, which is why he gained particularly wide fame. However, in addition to football, he has been vice president of the Lukoil oil company for more than 20 years.
About a military career
Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun was born on April 5, 1956 in Kiev. His childhood passed in Kazakhstan, where he was sent by his father, a military surgeon and officer. The boy was inspired by the atmosphere of Baikonur and, as is easy to assume, decided to start a military career.
Training
From 1972 to 1977, Fedun studied at the military-political faculty of the Rostov Higher Military Command School of Strategic Missile Forces. Then he entered the postgraduate studies of the F.E.Dzerzhinsky Military Academy, after which he defended his work on the topic “Public opinion of soldiers as a factor in strengthening the morale of the army of a nation-wide state,” becoming a candidate of philosophical sciences. Having defended his Ph.D., he taught political science for 8 years. During this time, Leonid Arnoldovich received the rank of colonel.
Acquaintance with the oil company
In addition to teaching at the institute, Leonid Arnoldovich lectured in the All-Union Society “Knowledge”. In 1987, he was sent on a business trip to the oil village of Kogalym. At one of the lectures, the intellect and train of thought of a young teacher interested representatives of the Kogalymneftegaz oil company. Leonid Fedun was invited to a meeting after the lecture, and in the course of a further conversation, his passion for the oil industry, in which he was well oriented, was revealed. Some time after the conversation, Leonid Arnoldovich received a job offer from the CEO of the company. Fedun did not think about it for a long time and, of course, agreed.
About oil
At the oil company, Leonid Arnoldovich quickly joined the work and a new team. Thanks to his intelligence and analytical abilities, he was noted by management, and when in 1990 the general director of Kogalymneftegaz was appointed deputy minister of the oil and gas industry of the USSR and transferred his business to Moscow, Leonid Arnoldovich went with him.
Lukoil
A year later, in Moscow, in 1991, the foundation of the Lukoil concern was laid. Leonid Fedun took an active part in this and achieved success. On March 13, 1994, he was offered to take the position of Vice President of PJSC LUKOIL.
In a new capacity, he focused on the direction of the strategic development of the company. Many initiatives of L. Fedun were introduced into the practice of Russian business for the first time.
About FC Spartak
One cannot but tell about the contribution of Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun to the development of FC Spartak, beloved by many. He acquired Spartak from the previous owner, Andrei Chervichenko, in 2004 for $ 70 million. For over 13 years he was the owner of the club and its sponsor.
