Location
Heizhu (Black Bamboo Hollow) is located in the southwestern part of China, in Sichuan province. If you move away from the city of Chengdu for two hundred kilometers, you can stumble upon the Stone Gate (Shi-Ming). They stand just on the eastern slope of Mount Me'an and serve as the entrance to the Black Bamboo Hollow.
Description
The area of the Hollow takes up to 180 square kilometers. Thickets of bamboo grow throughout the territory, reaching a height of up to forty meters. Between them is often spread a fog, which is formed due to the lowland location of the Hollow. Also in the forest there are swamps, waterfalls and a huge lake, the size of which reaches 200 meters.
It would seem that this place has everything to become a nature reserve: unusual bamboo thickets, convenient location, amazing natural beauty around. But instead , the valley earned a grim reputation.
How it all started
The first mention of the loss of people in the Hollow of black bamboo appears in 1949. At a time when the Communists were crowding the Kuomintang army, a detachment of 30 people fought off the main forces. They hit it in the valley, since then no one has seen them.
After some time, three scouts from the Chinese army passed through Hollow. Only one could get out of the valley. He said that at some point he fell behind his comrades. Therefore, he tried to catch up with them dearly, but instead found a way out of the Hollow.
In 1950, about a hundred people disappeared without a trace. The search team could not find any traces. In the same year, an airplane flew through the valley, which crashed into its territory. According to the black boxes found, he was in perfect condition.
Then, in 1962, the conductor escorted the exploration group to the Hollow of black bamboo. All team members are gone. Could not find neither them, nor things, nor equipment. According to the conductor, when the group approached the entrance of the valley, he was a little behind. It was at this time that a thick fog appeared. Because of him, nothing was visible per meter. The conductor was frightened and froze in place. After a moment, the fog cleared, but the geologists were gone.
Four years later, in March 1966, a group of military cartographers was sent to the bamboo forest. All six people also disappeared. But after some time, one of the members of the group was found by a local hunter. The man was barely breathing, they could hardly bring him to his senses.
Ten years later, a group of foresters went into the bamboo forest. Two disappeared without a trace. The surviving part of the group said that as soon as they entered the valley, a thick fog enveloped them, from which some strange and at the same time scary sounds were heard. According to them, everything went in a few seconds. And according to the watch of the forester, the fog lasted twenty minutes.
Black Bamboo Hollow: Mystic
Science could not explain why people disappeared without a trace. After all, even after some time there were no remains or traces. Because of this order of things, rumors filled with mysticism began to circulate among the people.
According to one version, a rare species of white bamboo bear lives in the forest, which feeds on human meat, a kind of panda cannibal.
The second version says that a dense fog that arises instantly and also quickly disappears - a mask of alien creatures. They came to earth to abduct people.
Also, residents insisted on strong geomagnetic radiation, the anomalous properties of rotting plants that secrete psychotropic fumes. There was also a version of portals from parallel worlds and evil spirits.
Scientific expedition
Due to the huge number of different mystical theories and their adherents, the Academy of Sciences of the People's Republic of China in the late nineties of the twentieth century organized an expedition to the hollow of black bamboo. The leader of the group was Yang Yun.
The expedition lasted a whole month. During this time, the presence of supernatural forces and mystical creatures was not revealed. But the group members discovered an extremely complex structure of geological rocks and recorded the release of vapors that are deadly and poisonous. They appeared as a result of decay of some tree species. In addition, it was noted that the climate in the valley is quite difficult, and weather conditions are changing dramatically. All these environmental conditions could cause death. And the bodies simply disappeared in the ground dips, which suddenly formed underfoot.
Yang Yun also claimed that the whole combination of factors predetermines the mysticism of the area. But even the words of scientists could not shed light on the suddenly appearing fog, disorientation of experienced people and many other moments.
