Julia was the long-awaited child of her parents. And therefore, as expected, she was born on the eve of the magical New Year holiday. The famous gymnast was born on December 31 in 1978. At that time, her parents lived in Moscow and could not get enough of their happiness. The girl grew up a very active child. From her very birth, Julia's mother dreamed that her daughter would perform and take first places in all sports competitions. When the baby was 4 years old, she first put on her skates and stood on the ice. Despite the successes that little Julia achieved on ice, fate nevertheless decreed a little differently.

One day, going from a training session, Julia drew attention to how rhythmic gymnastics classes were being held in another hall. It was at that moment that the girl realized that this sport attracted her more, and she wants to devote her life to him. Even though Julia was more than 4 years old on the ice, her parents still had to make the decision of their growing girl. Moreover, the impetus was also the fact that the group of figure skaters, with whom Barsukova was engaged, had almost broken up by that time. In order not to miss the opportunity, it was decided to send the girl to gymnastics classes.
Remembering that time today, Barsukova says that she is very glad that then her life turned in a similar way. Indeed, in gymnastics, the girl found her calling and fully revealed her abilities.
Victory of the young gymnast
Did Yulia Barsukova achieve high results? Gymnastics for the athlete turned out to be quite simple and interesting. The girl was quite flexible and diligent. She always achieved her goals and never stopped. After a month of training, it turned out that Barsukova is much stronger and more persistent than her classmates. It is for this reason that they decide to transfer the girl to study at a special sports school, in which Julia studied until her adulthood. At this school, V. Silaeva becomes Julia’s mentor. When the question arose about accepting a girl in the rhythmic gymnastics team, Yulia had to face many unpleasant situations. After all, the national team coach I. Wiener didn’t really want to accept and train the girl. Many believed that Julia was included in the national team only because Silaev herself asked for it. Fortunately for everyone, within a year, relations between the gymnast and the new coach are improving. To this day, athletes communicate very well and often remember the old days.
Intense Competition
What results did Yulia Barsukova achieve? Rhythmic gymnastics was her main occupation in life, and, joining the national team, the girl began to train even more. She did not want to upset her coach and sought to prove that she was not in vain in this team.
Since 1998, Barsukova has taken part in many tournaments and competitions. Having reached the finals of the main grand prix, the gymnast was able to take several places, which were in the top ten. Although the result was not victorious for Julia, she did not give up and continued active training.
A year later, in 1999, Barsukova took 3rd place in the championship of Russia. She is very good at performing numbers with the ball, skipping rope and other apparatus in the gym. From that moment, the sports career of the young gymnast began to go up confidently.

The most famous number performed by the gymnast is considered to be an exercise with the ball, which was called "The Dying Swan." This program revealed the flexibility and femininity of the girl. The judges and spectators admired the ease and simplicity of Yulia Barsukova's rather complex elements and exercises. The school of rhythmic gymnastics has not yet educated the one who could perform it in the same way as the athlete herself. To this day, "The Dying Swan" is Julia's hallmark.
Rivalry or friendship?
Barsukova performed at many competitions, but each time she managed to occupy only 2 and 3 places. The fault was her teammate Alina Kabaeva. The girl at that time was considered one of the strongest gymnasts, which no one could defeat.
Despite this, the girls communicated very well with each other. As Julia herself says, they did not attach importance to who won what place, because they competed in the same team. They always shared victories and defeats equally.
At one of the World Championships Kabaeva is not very good. During the execution of her program, she makes several mistakes, which in the end cost her victory. It was a great chance for Barsukova, who took advantage of it with confidence. Having worked perfectly, Julia became the winner at the World Championship.
After the girl performs well at the Olympics, she decides to end her career in rhythmic gymnastics. At that time, Barsukova was only 22 years old.
Attempts to return to the ice
Olympic champion Yulia Barsukova after the end of her gymnastics career decides to return to the ice again. Then she takes part in a new project called "Dancing on Ice." Unfortunately, the girl is unable to achieve victorious results.
