Recently, cold porcelain has become a popular topic among craftswomen. Master classes in modeling and photos of the most beautiful works fill the Internet, so today we will dwell on this topic in more detail.
So, cold porcelain is an elastic mass, it resembles plasticine in consistency and properties, but in contrast to it, when dried, it becomes hard.
This material is used in ceramic floristry, as well as to create dolls.
Ready-made cold porcelain can be bought in shops for creativity. There is flesh and white on sale, the finished product from which can be painted with acrylics.
Cold porcelain can also be made at home. To do this, you need:
- 1 tbsp. corn starch;
- 1 tbsp. white glue;
- 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar;
- 1 tbsp Jonsons baby oils ;
- 1 tbsp glycerin.
We mix all the components, and as soon as the lumps disappear, put on the smallest fire and stir until the mass sticks to the shoulder blade.
After that, we knead porcelain with our hands, like an ordinary dough, only instead of flour we use petroleum jelly. Knead the mass for about 5-7 minutes, and then put the mixture in the refrigerator. That's all, our cold china is ready! Itβs not at all difficult to find workshops on its preparation. But today we are interested in the fascinating and creative process itself.
Molding with cold porcelain is even within the reach of a person who has never held this material in his hands: everything is extremely simple, and as proof of that, the photo master class for making hibiscus is given below.
For work you will need all kinds of stacks, cutters, molds, wire, artificial stamens and directly cold porcelain.
Spread the small porcelain pea evenly over the wire so that the top is a little thicker than the bottom - this will make it easier to insert stamens.
To make the petals, take a small piece of porcelain and roll a βsausageβ out of it, roll it to a thickness of 2-3 mm and insert the wire into the middle. It should occupy about ΒΌ of the petal. Using the mold and knife, give the petal the texture and shape of a real plant.
Walk along the edge of the stack with a round tip, and then to give a bend, place our petals in a bowl with a rounded bottom (some craftswomen use old bulbs for this purpose).
For greater naturalness after drying, walk through the petals with yellow dry pastel.
Spread 5 petals evenly around our pestle and fix the ends of the wire with tape.
For greater credibility, you can make a bud and leaves.
As you can see, today the cheapest way to translate your fantasies into reality and create incredible beauty is cold porcelain. Master classes, of which there are a great many, will help you get comfortable in the world of modeling. Due to the homogeneous texture of this material, not only flowers, but also various small details can be created from it. Use improvised materials: shells, cords, beads, fabric and other accessories, not just cold porcelain. For beginners, we recommend finding instructional videos and not focus on something tiny. Thumbnails are not yet for you, try to start with something large, for example with hibiscus, a master class on the manufacture of which is given above.
And remember, sculpting is a pleasure if the material is cold porcelain. Master classes will help you!
