- Sandpaper.
How to make paper skull using papier-mâché technique
Inflate the balloon to the desired size. Grease it with petroleum jelly or vegetable oil. Why do this? So that at the end the skull can be easily separated from the ball. We glue the “tail” with masking tape so that it does not interfere with work.
Marker mark the eyes, nose and teeth. We will not stick these places with paper; they must remain intact.
Glue the paper on the ball. After two or three layers let dry. The more paper there is, the stronger the skull will turn out.
When the base is ready, you can begin to sculpt individual parts. Marker draw places that should turn out to be voluminous. For example, forehead, nape, eye sockets, cheekbones, jaw. Glue pieces of paper on these areas only. After gluing 2-3 layers, let the skull dry. We do this until we achieve the desired result.
Remove the dried skull from the ball, gradually blowing it away. Trim the excess paper that crawled out of the outline.
We put putty on the skull. While it is still wet, we form tubercles, cracks, focusing on realistic images of skulls. When the putty is dry, the product must be sanded with sandpaper. As a result, the skull should be smooth. If necessary, paint the product.
