Thanks to this, a lot of extreme sports have appeared, which are now popularized and increase records. One of these is the trial. What is and what are its types relevant today?

The meaning of the concept

Trial is a common concept for sports to overcome artificial or natural obstacles. The difference in the passage of such a route depends on the choice of vehicle. It can be a bicycle, motorcycle or car.

The trial movement is rooted in the USA of the last century, when jeep racing in deserts and swamps became especially popular. At the beginning of the 21st century, they were recognized as an official sport and designated the "jeep trial." Subsequently, the extreme movement spread and began to acquire new forms and rules. Today, every person, perhaps, is aware of the phenomenon of the trial, that such a movement annually holds competitions of international level. The main sports centers are located in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, England. The main areas are bicycle, motorcycle and jeep trial.

Trial sport continues to improve, is on the verge of discovering new heights and achievements. The fruit of this development was the street trial (a kind of bike trial) and the truck trial (truck racing).

One of the most complex and at the same time beautiful and breathtaking views is the bike trial. The followers of this movement do not recognize the roads, and for the place of training they choose stairs, parapets, unfinished buildings, parks. In a word, those places where you can find complex, relief structures.

The bike trial combines virtuoso jumps and twists, balance and gliding at the same time. In this regard, a competitive and stunt bike trial is distinguished. The unifying rule is to overcome obstacles without touching their surface with body parts.

Given this load, trial bicycles differ in characteristics from the usual ones. Firstly, there is no seating on them. To perform tricks, it is not required, it only carries excess weight. The design itself is a lightweight version of the transport of carbon, magnesium or aluminum. Wheel diameters range between 19 and 24 inches. The front wheel is larger than the rear.

The main feature of this type of trial is that such a direction has its own riding technique. Each involves balancing on one wheel with or without motion elements. Among the most popular are:

  • Surf - on the rear wheel without pedals + rear brake.
  • Manual - on the rear wheel without pedals and brakes.

  • Stoppi - on the front wheel + brake.

Motorcycle trial is of a higher level of difficulty. The rules of balance and overcoming obstacles without touching the surface path common with the bike trial with your hands or feet. However, mototrialists are subject to greater trauma due to the steepness of the route and the complexity of transport equipment.

The trial bike also excludes sitting. Usually these are classic models for motocross with a four-stroke engine and a tubular frame, adapted for stunt loading. Wheel diameters typically range from 18 (rear) to 24 (front) inches. According to the characteristics of the design are divided into amateur and professional. The latter are used in competitions. Trial sport began its movement with jeep racing. Since then, the rules have been tightened, and obstacles have become even more difficult and steeper. This sport is for smart and prudent drivers, or pilots. Despite the definition of racing, the victory here is not decided by speed, but by the ability to control slow transport and maneuver. Injury, in this case, is minimal. However, in overcoming natural obstacles (swamps, pits, climbs and descents), you can seriously β€œget stuck”, then additional technical assistance will be required.

Cars for the jeep trial are divided into five classes:

  • The original . The SUV without "bells and whistles" is aimed at fans of a jeep trial. Changes are for security purposes only. The allowable tire size is 825 * 275 mm. Projector depth up to 16 mm.
  • Standard . The characteristics of this model include a body lift and a small tuning of suspensions (springs / springs), tire size 900 * 320 mm and the engine. The depth of the projector is allowed up to a maximum of 20 mm.
  • Modifight is a noticeably modified car, however, there are certain limitations in the refinement (the type of systems and components remains the same).
  • Promodifight . Belongs to a higher class with cardinal changes in characteristics, except for the controlled rear axle.
  • Prototype - a special type of racing jeep, assembled specifically for the passage of obstacles in very rough terrain. Allows for any modifications.

Victory criterion

At trial competitions throughout the course for each action, maneuver, cleanliness and stunt technique, the participant is awarded points. Victory is determined by the accuracy and absence of penalty points.

July-August is the time of the annual trial trials in Europe (EuroTrial). Russia is also allowed to compete. Participants can be people from 18 years of age with transport that complies with the regulations and safety features (helmet, jumpsuit). It is allowed to take a navigator to pass the trial trial jeep.
