World Religions - Judaism, Key Ideas and Positions

Judaism, being a world religion, came to us from the Jewish people at a time when the traditions and rites of ancient Babylon were borrowed and supplemented by Jews . Religion is becoming an important part of Jewish civilization and is a counterweight to the process of Christianization of society. Thus, Judaism, the main ideas of which are revealed in the unity of God and his union with the Israeli people, affects the life of the Jews and includes historical and national elements.

Thus, the creed of Judaism consists of thirteen moments in which it is indicated that God is one, they created the world and all living things, the wisdom of the Lord was transmitted to the prophets, Moses is a mission, a new coming of the messiah and the resurrection of the dead are supposed. All these points are largely similar to Christianity, however, Judaism does not recognize Jesus Christ as the messiah. The Jews themselves claim that the Jewish people are endowed with a special mission, which is aimed at conveying the truth to humanity, so God gave the commandments to the Jews to accomplish this goal. In total, there are 10 commandments of Judaism that formed the basis of the ancient Bible of the Jews. Four of them reflect the relationship of man and the Lord, the rest reveal the relationship between people. Failure to comply with these commandments is considered a sin, therefore a person is punished not only in the afterlife, but also in real life.

The rejection of Jesus Christ and the expectation of another savior at one time caused the state collapse of Jerusalem. After the fall of Jerusalem, Judaism displays its main ideas in the Talmud, at which time there are instructions that a Jew should be close to God, while his appearance must comply with certain requirements. So, the believer must go through the process of circumcision, wear long hair and a beard. Thus, Judaism, which proclaimed the belief in one God, spreads the doctrine of the creation of the Lord by man in his own image, and of his desire to help in the struggle for good.

The teachings of Judaism are displayed in the Torah, much attention is paid to human behavior, religion itself presupposes freedom of religion. Thus, all Jews express their beliefs in prayers, rejecting the idea of atonement for sins. We can say that Judaism reflects the main ideas in the belief in the immortality of the human soul, in the chosenness of the Jewish people, for Jews, Judaism acts as a single true faith, based on two ideas: the chosen people and its universality. Therefore, it is the religion of one nation, the criterion of which is the observance of rites and traditions.

Thus, each person whose parents are Jewish preaches Judaism, the main ideas of which are revealed by the Torah:

- through repentance, that is, compensation for damage, lies the path to forgiveness;

- a person must be true to the truth and love other people;

- a person should provide assistance to a neighbor, etc.

Judaism today does not have temples and religious organizations, the Talmud, which includes the Torah, the Old Testament and other religious writings , is considered the holy book of this religious direction. We can say that the Old Testament is a book that has great influence throughout the world, since two world religions rallied in it.

For many centuries, the Jewish people sought a way out of the spiritual impasse; it was Judaism that played a huge role in the cohesion and preservation of the Jewish people.

Thus, it is in many ways similar to Christianity. Today, many Jews are beginning to realize the mistakes of their ancestors regarding the role of Christ in world history and religion, therefore they still accept him as their savior. Judaism official continues to wait for the coming of the Messiah.
