In each house you have to install doors (entrance or interior). So that they last for many years without repair, they open well, you need to make the correct measurement of the doors before installation. Such measurements can be carried out independently.
How to make door measurements: step-by-step instructions
You can measure the doors yourself. Measured in three places (A, B, C) the width and height of the opening. If there are doubts about the correctness, you can use the services of a specialist to perform work on measuring the front or interior doors. Measurers work in every store selling doors and accessories. In apartment buildings, the measurer arrives at the specified address and in 30 minutes makes all measurements. Preparatory work
If wooden doors were installed in your house before, the replacement begins with the dismantling of the old ones. The door leaf with ludks is completely removed and the opening is cleaned. In private homes there is a mismatch between the upper and lower sizes, low height, large wall thickness. The clearance at the top and bottom of the opening is measured and the discrepancy is cleared to the desired size. The clearance is completely cleaned from plaster. Also, the lower edge of the threshold is cleaned and leveled by level. It should be perfectly smooth: the life of the door block depends on this.
To order manufacturing, you need to make a door measurement:
- height;
- width;
- wall thickness.
The height is measured in the center using a plumb line for the strict perpendicularity of the measuring tape (10-15 centimeters from the corners of the opening). In this case, the lowest indicator will be provided for the production of the door. We also measure the width in three four verticals using the level: the smallest number will be correct. Wall thickness appears to be the highest metering rate.
Interior doors
For the installation of doors between rooms, three types of manufacturing material are on sale:
- Fiberboard;
- MDF;
- natural material.
The largest selection of interior doors made of fiberboard. They are quite lightweight, cheap, do not provide installation difficulties. Doors made of such material are not recommended for installation in kitchen openings, bathtubs due to instability of the web material to high humidity. Also, they are not marked by the strength of the coating.
MDF material is more durable, does not absorb moisture, has the quality of sound insulation. It does not differ in great cost from fiberboard doors. Coating gives resistance to pollution.
Natural material is the most reliable and durable. The cost of eco-doors depends on the quality indicators of the material, as well as on the manufacturer. Cloths of precious wood are made and installed in the orders of the author's design. At a cost they are more expensive, but the service life corresponds to the price indicator.
The installation itself is carried out in stages. All gaps in which you want to insert the unit must be thoroughly cleaned of construction debris. Together with the canvas, it’s important to put a new one.
The dimensions of the openings between the rooms:
For the door frame in each room, aperture measurement is separately taken. In addition to three measurements of height and three measurements of width, an exact size of the wall thickness is required. After mounting the unit without proper measurement of the wall thickness, it is impossible to correctly install the platbands. Standard doors are sold with box and trim. Therefore, it is so important to make the right measurements.
The dimensions are indicated (take turns measuring such sizes):
- height and width of the door leaf;
- height, width, and wall thickness (for the box);
- width of platbands;
- threshold height (if necessary).
To make sure that the standard model is suitable for installation, the thickness of the box, the allowance for the mounting filler (up to 2 centimeters) and, if necessary, the threshold height must be added to the size of the door leaf. If the sizes match the standards issued, half of the problems are resolved. Important! In a private house there is always a shrinkage of the building. An additional 5 centimeters is added to the width of the mounting openings on the top of the box.
Entrance, iron doors. Measurement accuracy in a private house
Correctly installed entrance doors are protection against external penetration. To do this, make the correct measurement. The unit must be correctly installed and reliable. Additional locks after installation should serve smoothly.
After dismantling the old entrance, the entrance door and the clearance for installation work are correctly measured. The clearance between the wall and the box should be from 1 centimeter to 4. This clearance is needed not only for ease of installation. If the doors exit to the sunny side in the summer, the metal will heat up and expand, which will lead to deformation. In winter, under the influence of cold, the iron door shrinks, which should also be taken into account.
When installing wooden muds, clearance also matters. A large clearance for installation after installing the doors will be vulnerable to temperature extremes. The ability to heat insulation and stability will also be impaired. Large gaps require filling with building materials, and insufficient - expanded.
Entrance doors for multi-storey buildings
In apartment buildings, all doorways have a GOST standard. To select a model in the cabin, you need to measure the door and get acquainted with the proposed options.
There are several reasons why you need to pay attention to standards:
- The store provides an endless selection of door options and models.
- Doors on request with individual sizes in a good woodworking workshop will be very pleased, but paying for work and installation will be many times more expensive.
- When installing with non-standard measurements, it is additionally necessary to purchase platbands, accessories, fastening tapes.
Subtleties of taking measurements and installing entrance doors
It is worth considering the material from which the house is built. Block houses are not subject to shrinkage of the building. Therefore, proper metering will provide an opportunity for long-term operation of the door unit. When installing a standard door, the clearances for installation in width and height should be 1.5 centimeters.
In private homes there is always a shrinkage of the building, especially in older buildings. When replacing the entrance box in an old house, the upper clearance for installation requires up to 5 centimeters. It is blown by three layers of foam and closed with a moisture-proof tape. Shrinkage of the house occurs gradually over a dozen years. With proper measurement of the door block and high-quality installation, deformation of the pipe will not occur.
