It is very difficult to imagine a modern girl without a manicure. And even harder to imagine the whole variety of nail care products. Various oils, creams, amazing tools and, of course, varnishes of all kinds of shades. But sooner or later, every lady is faced with the fact that it is at that moment when a particular color is needed, it turns out to be dried out. How to dilute nail polish in such a situation? And how to prevent, albeit temporary, but still spoilage of varnish? We will talk about everything further.
What is the reason?
First you need to understand why such metamorphoses occur with varnish at all. The fact is that with the so-called drying, the liquid evaporates from the varnish, which is why it first thickens and begins to lie unevenly and with bubbles, and then completely ceases to be applied. This is a consequence of natural processes, but the varnish can also deteriorate due to banal carelessness and improper handling: temperature changes (storage in warm or cold) also negatively affect this product. There are several ways to save the varnish, and we will talk about them later.
How to avoid?
Before considering how to dilute nail polish, it is worth mentioning how to properly store it. Firstly, you do not need to experiment with storage temperature - the usual, indoor one will be the most optimal. When applying nail polish it is also better to avoid exposure to extreme temperatures. So, painting nails near an open flame, from which there is heat, will not be a good idea: this will not at all contribute to the long-term preservation of the coating.
From time to time, it is worth shaking each bottle, just to prevent drying. And yet, no matter how trivial it may sound, you need to use varnishes as often as possible: when you open the bottle, oxygen gets inside, which activates the chemical processes in the varnish that do not allow the varnish to thicken and dry. In addition, to increase this very flow of oxygen, it is worth blowing inside before closing the bottle.
Use of thinners
Before you dilute thickened nail polish with the help of products that are so widely used at home, you can use special fluids offered by manufacturers of varnishes, the so-called thinners. Like any cosmetics, they are divided into professional and generally available, the first, of course, are much more effective, although they cost much more.
It is enough to add a few drops of diluent to a bottle of varnish, shake the bottle, and the varnish will become like new. The diluent will not act for more than a month, but due to the fact that it needs very little, one standard bottle may last for several years. It is also necessary to store such a product at room temperature - hypothermia is deadly for it.
Adding clear varnish
Secondly, if the varnish is thickened, you can add a little transparent varnish to it, however, this method is not very long-term. When mixing, colorless varnish pulls on itself a coloring pigment from colored and fixes it on the nail. One such mixing is enough for one or two stains, so you have to regularly use this method.
Addition of nail polish remover, acetone and other solvents
The third method is the most common: even in the Soviet Union, women knew how to dilute dried nail polish. In a jar with spoiled varnish, a little means was added to remove it - a sort of household analogue of a diluent. However, when using the product with acetone, the varnish will be erased much faster, so this should be taken into account. For a half-bottle of varnish, you will have to use a quarter of a teaspoon of acetone or nail polish remover without it. By the way, it can be replaced with ordinary household solvent - this method is one of the cheapest, but, importantly, very dangerous. You can not only get chemical burns when exceeding the concentration of solvent in the varnish, but also poison yourself with chemical fumes. In addition, no one excludes that the varnish will be completely unsuitable for use.
Degree increase
The next household method, also well-known, is heating. What is being done with jam that thickens? That's right, put a jar of it in hot water for a while. In no case can you use boiling water - glass bottles are unlikely to appreciate such a temperature difference. The varnish will indeed become more fluid.
Another interesting feature of this method is that in no case should you shake the bottle - here the soda effect will work, in which bubbles also appear after shaking. That is, in principle, it is not necessary to know how to dilute the nail polish, there are other ways to resuscitate it. It is worth noting that this method is very short-lived: as soon as the liquid inside the bottle cools, it will again cease to be applied normally to the nails.
Micellar Water Addition
What else can dilute a thickened nail polish with? Micellar water. Recently, it is increasingly found in the arsenal of girls, but few people know that in addition to cleansing the skin, it can still save dried varnish. In a bottle you need to add about a teaspoon of water and leave this mixture to stand for a while. Then the varnish will be like new.
Custom varnishes
And how to dilute gel-based nail polish? In this case, it is useless to count on the above methods, it is better to immediately add strong alcohol to the bottle - vodka or medical alcohol. The problem is that abuse of this method will significantly affect the quality of the coating: it will be much easier to damage, and it will crack faster than regular gel polish.
There is one more non-standard varnish, carrakelure, which allows you to create peculiar cracks on the surface of the nail, very liquid and quickly drying, which is why it is useless to reanimate it, even all of the above methods will not help.
Finally
So, how to dilute nail polish? It is worth remembering that it is better not to use alcohol-containing products and alcohol - modern varnishes really do not like such a neighborhood. Acetone also has certain disadvantages - nevertheless, it spoils the nail plate, so you should not abuse it either as a diluent or as a means for removing varnish. It is even better to abandon varnish dilution products that contain acids and fats - none of these elements will contribute to the long-term preservation of the coating. With proper care, your hands will always look simply amazing - nothing pleases the eye more than an excellent manicure.
