In the suburban area there is always the opportunity to grow cultivated plants. But in harsh climates it is sometimes very difficult to do. In order for the above-described task to become real, you can independently make a butterfly greenhouse. It is based on polycarbonate, which is transparent, lightweight, inexpensive and easy to install material.
The work is carried out in several stages, among which are earth manipulations, the creation of a frame, as well as the fastening of covering material. In order for the butterfly butterfly greenhouse to be effective in use, you must try to make the number of slots minimal. If it is necessary to bend the sheet, this manipulation should be performed exclusively across the direction of the honeycomb.
The frame should be formed in such a way that it is resistant to the effects of high humidity, external precipitation and strong wind. In order to prevent moisture from getting inside the paintings, installation should be done in parallel with the insulation of the slice. The most suitable option is to install the sheet in a U-shaped profile. The construction should be carried out in early spring or late autumn. This is due to the fact that the most suitable temperature for manipulating the canvases is the range from +10 to +12 degrees Celsius.
Seat selection
If you are going to make a greenhouse "butterfly", then first you need to figure out where the structure will be located. Most of the time it should be under the sun. You should not start construction in the lowland, as rain and groundwater can accumulate there. This will lead to chilling and rotting of the plants. The long side should be from north to south. If groundwater is high in the territory, then if it is necessary to build an in-depth greenhouse, this idea can be realized only by means of a high embankment.
Site preparation
The greenhouse "butterfly" made of polycarbonate can be made in the form of a recessed structure. Initially, you should get rid of the turf by digging a foundation pit of a trapezoidal shape. Its depth can be equal to 80 cm, and the minimum value is equivalent to 30 cm. This parameter depends on the purpose of using the greenhouse and climatic conditions. The walls of the pit are strengthened with wooden boards, and dung is poured onto the bottom, which is pre-mixed with beautiful leaves or other additives like peat. Soil is poured on top with a layer of 25 cm, and then a crown is made. The latter will be mounted on top of the structure. The crown should be made of 20 cm logs. They should be knocked down so that a contour is obtained whose width and length are equal to the corresponding parameters of the future greenhouse.
Frame manufacturing
If you are going to make a greenhouse "butterfly" out of polycarbonate, then after earthworks you can start making the frame. Its appearance directly depends on what the final design should be. The simplest option is the one that has an arched cover. For this, 50 mm beams are prepared, which can be knocked together in the absence of a sufficient length. The result should be a rail, the length of which is equal to the length of the greenhouse. There will be two such elements. Polycarbonate is fixed to them. However, the fastening of the covering sheet is carried out at the last stage.
If the greenhouse "butterfly" with their own hands will be made, then the frame can be made of metal-plastic water pipes, they should be bent, so that after sheathe with polycarbonate. But this design is more difficult to manufacture when forming well-opening sashes. That is why experts recommend choosing wood or a galvanized profile for the frame.
Installing Polycarbonate Sheets
If you make a butterfly-greenhouse greenhouse, then you will need only one sheet for the design. A standard canvas has a width of 210 cm, while the length is 6 meters. The material must be cut into 4 parts, the first of which will be 90 centimeters, the other three will be equivalent to 170 cm. Cut the sheets with an ordinary construction knife.
Features of the work
Cloths are fixed to the frame. It is necessary to decompose them so that the wide side, whose length is 210 cm, is along the bar. You need to use screws for fastening, and laying should be done with an overlap. A slice of the top sheet is then glued with tape. When such a greenhouse is made, the sheets should be turned out with a sunscreen.
At the next stage, the canvas is bent in the form of an arch. The craftsman should use a 50 mm beam, the length of which is 150 cm. The last parameter should be equivalent to the width of the structure. The beam is nailed to one of the frame elements. After the canvas is folded, it should be fixed. This procedure is repeated on the other hand.
Reviews
The "butterfly" greenhouse, reviews of which are often quite positive, is notable for its low weight, which consumers really like. Among other things, polycarbonate protects plants from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, but transmits sunlight in sufficient quantities. It is impossible not to note the heat-insulating qualities of the structure.
