More recently, masters and lovers of nail design were delighted with the appearance of a novelty that allows you to create an extremely unusual pattern on the nails. If before there was no doubt that all the unusual nail polishes with different color and density characteristics have already been created, then today this fact has been refuted: cracking nail polish has become a new sensation of the season.
What it is?
First of all, it should be noted that the synonyms of cracking varnish are craquelure and python. French "craquelure" is used to indicate a small crack in the paint layer in the picture. In this case, we are talking about a special varnish used by artists, designers and furniture makers to artificially age furniture and interior items. The same technology is applied in the nail design.
Cracking nail polish can be of two varieties:
- the intake craquelure leads to the appearance of large cracks through which the varnish base is clearly visible (the trick is based on this: the desired effect is created by βdetectingβ the sublayer).
- filament or spider-craquelure makes it possible to create very thin cracks that almost completely hide the lower lacquer layer.
How to apply cracking varnish ?
Before applying, it is necessary to clean and degrease the nail plate, which is achieved by means of nail polish remover. To avoid severe harm to the nail, the product used should not contain acetone.
Next, the nail is coated with base varnish. Before you begin work on the design, think over the color combination of the base varnish and craquelure so that the result matches the tone of your outfit. After application, the base layer is dried.
The next step is to apply a βcrackedβ layer. Cracking nail polish is applied in a thin layer: it is necessary to ensure that the bottom layer is at least slightly visible. Dry it. The drying process is accompanied by the appearance of cracks through which the main layer is visible.
Do not forget to apply the last coat. Let it be a colorless varnish or fixing agent, the main thing is that without it all cracks will disappear very quickly.
Now you know how to apply cracking varnish. Let's move on to the combination of colors.
How to combine colors?
This is easy to do using the well-known color wheel. Drawings created using a combination of different colors can be the most unusual. Nail polishes allow you to do something original and elegant at the same time. For example, using a combination of diametrically opposite colors, you can enhance the brightness of the base layer, which will enhance the cracking effect; for a more sophisticated image, you need to select the tones of one color wave so that they do not emphasize, but only complement each other.
As usual, white and black varnishes are classic, suitable for any occasion. One has only to choose a cracking nail polish that matches the color of the wardrobe. Glitter varnishes and pearlescent varnishes are also excellent for the base.
With the help of such a varnish you can even give the picture the effect of ancient porcelain, for which you only need to combine the color of baked milk and white cracked varnish. No less interesting patterns are obtained using glitter varnish or silver base varnish.
A few tricks
As in any other business, applying craquelure has its own subtleties:
- it is mandatory to use a top fixing or transparent coating,
- cracking nail polish allows you to create cracks of various depths: a lot depends on the thickness of the applied layer (a dry brush is the guarantor of a thin layer),
- The use of earthy shades is not recommended, since the earthy color has not yet decorated anyone.
Using cracking varnish, you can quickly and easily create extremely unusual patterns on the nails. Thanks for the progress!
