Old lighthouses are scattered around the world. For many years they served as guides for sailors sailing on their ships in the night. And now, with the advent of electronic navigators, they are forgotten and abandoned. But many of them still keep their secret. No traces that could indicate the location of the caretakers were ever found. The Scottish authorities after the investigation said that they washed away a sudden huge wave. But many private researchers disagree with this version. In particular, ufologists say that aliens could abduct people. But there is no evidence. Interestingly, the story of the old lighthouse and its caretakers formed the basis of one of the episodes of the famous series Doctor Who.
Great Isaac Cay (Isaac Cay Island)
This old lighthouse was built in 1859. Its height is 46 meters. Local old-timers tell everyone who is interested in what happened here at the end of the XIX century shipwreck. It is said that only one infant survived in it. What happened to him next, the story is silent. But supposedly since then the ghost of his mother (Lady Gray) has been looking for the full moon along the entire coast of the baby and makes screaming woeful sounds. And here people keep disappearing for unknown reasons. So, on August 4, 1969, two rangers disappeared. Their search did not lead to anything.
Stonington Peninsula Lighthouse (Maine, USA)
Today tourists visit this old lighthouse with pleasure, as it is considered a local attraction. But he also has his own secret. According to legend, pirates once sailed here and hid their wealth somewhere in the bay. So it was or not, but divers still find something. But that is not all. Every year, in September, thousands of monarch butterflies fly to the island during their migration. It is incredibly beautiful here at this time!
Talacre Lighthouse (United Kingdom)
The secret of the old lighthouse in Talakra who just did not try to reveal. But, alas, so far no one has succeeded. And here’s what’s happening there: almost every day, a ghost in uniform and an old-fashioned hat walks along the paths near a building that has been decommissioned and tightly closed as far back as the 1840s. They say that it is supposedly a caretaker who died at a lighthouse from a fever. Whether it is true or not is unknown. But a proven fact: people who are near the lighthouse, after returning home, begin to fever. And they get to the hospital.
Segin Island Lighthouse (Maine)
This lighthouse was built in 1857. It is still considered one of the highest in the United States. Old-timers say that in ancient times there was a caretaker with his wife. That was lonely, and therefore every night she, trying to dilute the silence, played the piano. The husband was not able to show his feelings and could not find something for himself to his liking, and therefore slowly and surely went crazy. Once, in the heat of anger, he cut off the missus with an ax, and he either hanged himself, or else how he took his own life.
Some time after the incident from the lighthouse, the sounds of the piano began to be heard at night. They were heard by many people. That's just a musical instrument by then already taken out of there. In 1985, when the lighthouse was decided to be decommissioned, police came here to take out everything of value. According to rumors, the commander woke up at night from the voice of an unknown creature, ordering him to immediately leave the lighthouse. But he did not obey and decided to finish the job. It is a coincidence or not, but the shipped boat with the cargo did not reach the shore.
