During the repair of microchips, the motherboard of the computer, you need to use a soldering iron. But it is not always convenient in operation, because it quickly overheats, there is no way to regulate the temperature. And then a mobile advanced soldering station is needed. With their own hands, they learned how to create craftsmen.
One option is to create a soldering station, which is placed in the power supply unit (more precisely, its body) from the soldering iron, measuring eighty by fifty five by sixty five millimeters, with the possibility of connecting the old EPSN to it. To create a soldering station, you need to purchase a resistive soldering iron with a heater, a resistive sensor and an additional wedge-shaped tip of 1.6 millimeters.
A thermocouple from a Chinese-made multimeter is built into the EPSN. The controller board received sizes forty-three by thirty-three millimeters. A self- assembled portable digital soldering station reports on the readiness for work of soldering irons with inscriptions on the display. After starting, the controller turns on the ATsT and reads the voltage level at the inputs PC0, PC1. In the event that it is equal to the supply voltage, then there are no soldering irons, and βErrβ appears on the display, indicating an error.
When the voltage at one of the inputs is less than 4.5 volts, then you can choose a soldering iron either resistive or thermocouple. And for each, you can use the keys to adjust the temperature. A blinking dot appears on the display, indicating which device is selected. The power of the soldering iron can be adjusted using PWM modulation key VT1.
When a soldering station is assembled with your own hands, you can do without additional transistors, because at a current of 2 mA an intense and bright glow will be obtained. The cathodes are directly connected to the controller ports. The indicator must be soldered to the board with thin wires and secured on its back with hot-melt adhesive.
To place the buttons and display, you need to make holes in the front panel of the case. Print the panel image in mirror image on a transparent film, stick the double-sided white tape on the side of the toner, cut along the perimeter of the picture and then stick it on the body. For convenience, the buttons are best glued to the panel using hot melt adhesive.
For installation work with large boards, such as the motherboard of a PC or laptop, an infrared soldering station is suitable , it is also quite possible to make it yourself. For soldering during surface mounting of a printed circuit board and its components (for example, BGA), either hot air or infrared radiation is suitable.
The device itself consists of a control unit located in a separate housing. It has two heaters and mounts for circuit boards. The position of the top can be changed depending on the fixed board. The lower heater is a burner for electric stoves with a capacity of two kilowatts and a diameter of two hundred twenty millimeters. The top heater is four tubular halogen lamps. Each of them - 150 watts. Thus, the soldering station, assembled with your own hands, takes on a finished look.
A tripod can be made of rails from a dot matrix printer. The remaining parts are also borrowed from old computer equipment. The indicator is a 2-line liquid crystal module and controller. Instead of pulse transformers, it is better to use semistors and their radiators. It must be remembered that caution is required during their installation, since the seven-volt transistors are energized. In addition to these necessary parts, a soldering station will require a power supply unit that provides current through two channels, a keyboard, a display, an audible alarm and a zero detector.
If you have created a soldering station with your own hands, it is important to know some safety rules when working with it. For example, halogen lamps must not be allowed to be stained with grease. Therefore, it is necessary to thoroughly wipe them with acetone or gasoline, and wear protective glasses from the sun before starting work.
