All kinds of situations happen in life. And so it happened that for some purpose you needed to remove one of the flaps of a plastic window in one of the rooms. It does not matter for what purpose this is done, since it does not in any way affect the process itself. So how to remove the sash of a plastic window with your own hands?
Tool preparation
In order to remove the sash, some special tools are not required. There are, of course, special pullers designed for this procedure, but we will focus on the means at hand, namely, those tools that are at hand in every house or apartment, that is:
- screwdriver;
- a knife;
- pliers.
Instructions on how to remove the sash of a regular plastic window
Regardless of the design, anyone can remove the sash of a plastic window with their own hands. But first, a little insight into the essence of the design. If earlier the window sash from ordinary wooden frames could be removed from the canopies by simply lifting it up, then with plastic windows everything looks a little different. Only the lower one now resembles the design of the former canopy. The upper one rests on a pin (stock), which has to be pulled out. The sash also rotates on it. So, how to remove the sash of a plastic window of a conventional design:
- We make sure that the sash is locked. This is necessary so that when we pull the stem out of the upper canopy, the sash will not tip over on us.
- Then remove the decorative panels from both canopies. This procedure is done with a knife. We pry them by inserting the knife edge into the gap between the frame and the socket, and then it is removed by hand.
- Since it is impossible to remove the sash of the plastic window without pulling the rod out of the upper canopy, we proceed to its extraction. From above its edge should stick out a little, on which it is necessary to press on with some solid object. We have pliers at hand, and we will use them. If the pin sits tight, you can lightly tap it on top. When the edge of it appears from below, we clamp it with pliers and pull it out.
- Now the sash is held only on constipation and on the lower canopy. Holding it with one hand, with the other we open the constipation. Then we take the sash with both hands and slightly raise it, removing it from the rod of the lower canopy.
That's it, the withdrawal process is complete. The back sash is installed according to the same principle. We insert the lower rod into the bushing, hoist it in its place, lock it, adjust the middle of the upper part of the canopy so that the removed rod can freely enter through it. We drive it quietly into place, put on decorative panels, and everything is back in place.

How to remove the flap of a plastic window. Instruction manual
Now that we’ve figured out how to remove the hinge of a plastic window sash of a conventional design, we’ll figure out how to do this with a hinged modification (transom).
Here, before taking up the canopies, which in this case are located in a horizontal position, you should first deal with the limiters. With this, too, difficulties will not arise if you follow the instructions.
Limiter Disconnect Process
Since the stoppers that prevent the sash from falling down when opening the hinge interfere with removing the flap of the plastic window, they should be disconnected. Depending on the type of hardware with which the plastic window is equipped, there should be a small lever at the edge of the limiter on the side of the window, by turning which, we force the limiter bar to slide off the slot holding it. We turn the lever, remove the bar (in some cases it may be necessary to pry the edge of the bar with a screwdriver), we managed one limiter. Now we proceed to the second, acting in the same way.
When the sash is released from the limiters, you can proceed to remove it from the horizontal canopies according to the same principle that was described in the first case. We remove the decorative covers, determine which side the canopy with the pin is in, take it out and, having opened the lock, remove the sash from the pin of the second canopy.
The sash is mounted in its place in the same way. First, we deal with canopies, then we put the holes of the limiter bars on the slots on which they were held earlier. We turn locks and sashes.
The video instruction on the process is presented below.
We hope that the question of how to remove the sash of a plastic window is completely exhausted. Have a good mood and success in everything!
