Making a simple bas-relief with your own hands
If you want to turn an ordinary home into something special, you can not spend money on a new environment. It is enough to change the design of the room, breaking the stereotype that the wall must be flat. For a novice master, the simplest bas-relief is suitable, you can create it yourself with the help of ready-made polyurethane forms bought in a store . The diluted gypsum solution is carefully poured into the mold so that there are no air bubbles. Gypsum solidifies completely during the day, then the part is removed from the mold. This simple bas-relief, made on the basis of the purchased forms with your own hands, should be glued to the wall, getting a kind of natural stone or antique stucco molding.
Cord bas-relief
The second quite simple way you can do bas-reliefs in the interior with your own hands, using ordinary linen rope and gypsum mortar. A drawing is applied to a piece of foam or fiberboard, then, in accordance with the lines drawn, a rope moistened in a plaster solution is laid. After drying, the bulges along with the rest of the surface are treated with gypsum mortar with a brush. The finished bas-relief can be used for decoration by gluing it to the wall. But it is also allowed to use this method for furniture decor, such as a garden bench. In this case, it is not at all necessary to trim the object with tiles, it is enough to put the bench "on the bottom" and perform a bas-relief first on one side of it. Then, after drying, the procedure is performed on the other side. The last step will be painting the bench “stone” or “metal”. Luxuriously looks such an object, covered with black paint, and at home, while creating an imitation of a cast-iron ancient thing.
Stencil bas-relief
The drawing of the future bas-relief is translated into penofol and cut out. The required size of the gypsum sheet is coated with a primer, on which a figure cut out of penofol is applied. With a diluted putty, all irregularities on the stencil are overwritten. If you decide to make a bas-relief based on a stencil directly on the wall, use the same algorithm, only the penofol figure (stencil) is glued directly to the wall, overwriting the voids and irregularities with putty. It is possible to sculpt smaller parts on a stencil, using, for example, salt dough - it holds its shape well, does not dry out so quickly, so there is time to fix the bas-relief, to work on the “little things” more painstakingly.
Fantasy masters translate into reality
Many fans care about the question of how to make a bas-relief with your own hands according to your own plan? They usually use the method of casting bas-relief details in molds, followed by gluing them to the wall. But the master will make the form unique. To do this, he will need a silicone sealant and a sample template from which the mold will be cast. An old engraving, a figurine can be used as a template, but you can also mold a sample from plasticine at your own discretion. It is very important to lubricate the sample with petroleum jelly or oil before lowering it into a mold filled with silicone sealant. After taking the sample from the master, the mold for casting a bas-relief remains in his hands. The second stage of manufacturing a unique room decor is the casting of a bas-relief detail. To do this, put the gypsum solution in the mold and wait for it to harden. The third step will be to attach the bas-relief detail to the wall and paint it. In some cases, the entire wall, along with the bulges, is covered in one color, in others, it is worth considering how to select a three-dimensional image in order to emphasize its outlines.
