Esteban Gutierrez is a rider from Mexico who has performed in several seasons in the world championship Formula 1. However, in the main racing series his successes were rather modest, the main achievements of Esteban are connected with participation in the GP3 and GP2 championships.

Esteban Gutierrez was born in 1991 in Monterrey, which is located in Mexico. He happened to grow up in a very wealthy family, which owned a giant, transnational corporation. The boy has been involved in sports since childhood, he gave hope by playing basketball. However, due to a serious injury, he had to give up dreams of a career in the NBA.
So that his beloved son would not be bored, his parents bought him cards, which he quickly mastered and famously rolled around the surroundings of endless family estates. The guy was recorded to participate in the national karting championship of Mexico, where Esteban Gutierrez began to smash his competitors. First, he won at the junior level, then he began to win competitions with experienced pilots.
A promising racer is noticed by representatives of the BMW sports department and invited to participate in the competitions of the Formula BMW series (USA). In the first year, the swift Esteban Gutierrez, whose photos often appear in sports publications, becomes the vice champion of the series.
Success in the GP Series
In 2008, the Mexican pilot participated in a number of European racing series, with the main emphasis on the Formula BMW racing. Esteban Gutierrez won the final championship, giving out during the season a convincing series of six consecutive wins.
Continuing to perform in the series “Formula BMW”, the Mexican is trying his hand at the stages of F-3. In 2009, the leadership organized for the prospective rider a whole program of performances in this class, where Esteban was able to test himself on faster equipment in the competition with experienced pilots from around the world.
In 2010, Esteban Gutierrez joined the team to participate in the new racing series - GP3. So the Mexican found himself in a situation where none of the competitors had an advantage over him due to his superiority in experience and knowledge of the exact settings of combat vehicles for a particular track. An impudent driving style and high speed became his main allies.
On the move, the Mexican took the lead, showed stable results, which allowed him to finish the season in first place. He scored five wins during the season and was ahead of his closest competitor in the overall standings by seventeen points.
"Formula 1"
Esteban Gutierrez, like all young racers, dreamed of playing in the main racing series of the world. The first chance for this was presented to him in the 2012 season. Escudería Telmex (a program to support Mexican motorsport) managed to establish close cooperation with Sauber, one of the Formula 1 teams. Sergio Perez, one of the wards of Escudería Telmex, became the co-pilot of the team, and his younger partner got the role of a test pilot.
In order not to lose the competitive form, Esteban Gutierrez combines work at Sauber with participation in the GP2 racing series. For two years, he confirms his highest speed, more than once becoming the author of the fastest circle. At the end of 2012, he won the third position in the overall standings.
At the end of the year, Perres goes to McLaren, and Esteban takes his place. However, the equipment for the 2013 season was significantly inferior to last year. The team’s first pilot, due to his rich experience, was somehow able to adjust it for himself in the middle of the season, but Esteban was in a less favorable position and limited himself to fighting in the rearguard. Only once he managed to climb into the spectacle zone at the Grand Prix in Tokyo. In all other races, he completed the stages in the second ten.
Last years
Every year, things went worse for Sauber; in 2014, their new equipment was even inferior to competitors. All this deprived Gutierrez and his teammate of even the slightest chance to fight for points at the stages of the Grand Prix.
The Mexican resigned from Sauber, signed a contract with Ferrari, where he found a place for a backup pilot. In 2016, he had the chance to return to the big race. He got the main pilot in the new Haas team, where his partner was the Frenchman Roman Grosjean. The return to the series was unsuccessful, Gutierrez could not earn a single point, while his partner regularly climbed into the points zone and managed to finish the season in general thirteenth place.
At the end of the season, Haas did not re-sign the contract with the Mexican, and he was left without a team.
