Robert Kubica - a man who made himself

Robert Kubica - a famous Polish rider who spoke in Formula 1. First sat behind the wheel at the age of 4 years. After a serious accident in 2011, he could not return to Formula 1. He is currently a pilot of WRC2. In this article, you will be presented with a brief biography of the rider.

Childhood

Robert Kubica (photo below) was born in Krakow (Poland) in 1984. Once a 4-year-old boy saw an off-road buggy in a children's store and asked his parents to buy it. They refused. But Robert did not give up and continued to pester them for a long time. Finally, Anna (the mother of the future rider) gave up and bought her son a small car.

To mark the circle in the park, Arthur (Robert's father) had to use plastic bottles. The boy rode there every day. Since the drive was only on the rear wheel, the car always behaved differently when cornering. But the boy quickly adapted and very soon learned to masterfully ride a makeshift track.

Arthur understood that his son needed something more than a 4 horsepower machine. Therefore, he changed the buggy to the rear-wheel drive Porsche, which develops a speed of up to 80 km / h. For a five-year-old boy, this was very good. But soon the Porsche decided to replace the card. In Poland, the minimum age for participating in card competitions was 10 years. Naturally, Robert did not pass by age. But the boy did not lose heart. For the next 5 years, he and his father traveled to the nearest training track once or twice a week. At 10, young Robert Kubica went to the Polish Card Championship. In the next three years, the boy received 6 titles in 2 different categories.

Contract with CRG

A talented young racer in Poland won everything that is possible. It's time to move on. The boyโ€™s father set his sights on the Italian Cart Championship. Arthur even had to get a loan, but there was only enough money for a couple of races. Fortunately, his talented son was noticed by the CRG card maker and offered the boy a contract. In 1998, Robert Kubica moved to Italy and began to live in the employer's home. Now the whole life of the boy was connected with racing. Robert even began to learn Italian. In the same 1998, he became the first foreigner to win the Italian Cart.

First accident

In 2003, the next stage in the career of Kubica began. He was supposed to test a car in Formula 3, but suddenly had an accident, breaking his arm. The fracture was difficult, and the period of full recovery, according to doctors, was 6 months. โ€œI have other plans,โ€ was exactly what Kubica Robert told them. The accident did not stop him from driving his car in Formula 3 exactly five weeks later. The racer fought for victory with a hand held together by 18 titanium bolts. It was a rather unusual debut.

"Formula 1"

In 2005, Robert took part in the Renault World Series. There he won a number of victories on the tracks in Orshensleben, Bilbao and Zoldera, eventually becoming the champion of the series. The Renault team invited a talented pilot to the Formula 1 tests. The BMW Sauber management became interested in their results and offered the Pole a better deal. So Kubica became a test pilot of Formula 1. The debut of the rider was not very successful. In his first race, Robert took only eighth place, earning one point for the team. But even this result was canceled a few hours later. This happened because after the finish line the mass of the car was much less than that which is permissible in the competition regulations.

Leaving Formula 1

Before the start of the 2011 season in Formula 1, Robert Kubica participated in one of the Italian rallies, where he had an accident. The rider's car skidded and she rammed the safety rail. The latter struck the car body and hit the pilot, injuring his right side of the body. Kubica received multiple fractures of the legs, hands and arms. Initially, doctors admitted a certain probability of amputation. But an experienced Italian surgeon successfully completed a seven-hour operation, telling Robert that it would take at least a year to restore his arm. The bill for the treatment of the pilot amounted to 100 thousand euros. An insurance company paid for it without question.

Nevertheless, he failed to achieve the desired form for returning to Formula 1. Now the rider is playing in WRC2. In 2013, he became the champion of this rally. Robert continues to perform there and hopes to return to Formula 1.
