The Rostov port connects several highways. They provide ships with access to five seas. In 2009, the river port was elevated to the status of a sea port. Today it is the largest in the south of Russia. The port's cargo turnover is almost 18 million tons annually. Since 1998, it has become possible to receive foreign ships. Each year they are issued over six thousand.

Port history

The Rostov port is one of the oldest Russian ports. It was founded in 1750 and almost immediately became a center of trade in southern Russia. Thanks to the development of shipping, the region developed rapidly. According to historical data, he traced his origin to Temernitsky.

But soon the port of Rostov became an increasingly important facility. The turnover of goods and cargo increased rapidly. A quarter of Russian iron exports passed through the port of Rostov. And a lot of goods were imported. In 1768, construction began on a new wooden shipyard.

The port has 4 cargo areas. The first - on the right bank of the Don, the rest - on the left (Aksaysky, Rostov buckets and in the industrial zone "Zarechnaya"). The port is fully equipped for forwarding and transshipment of ships. The facility’s capacities allow it to handle up to 16 ships at once, the carrying capacity of which is up to 5000 tons.

Thanks to the icebreaker fleet available in the assets, the port in Rostov operates all year round. On the territory of the facility there is a border point that opens and closes the state border. And also TU Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor. And “River Port” is a customs post. The port area is 100 hectares. On its territory there are modern mooring facilities.

For loading and unloading, more than 30 units of special equipment are used. Of these, 14 cranes. Each carrying capacity of up to 65 tons. The area of ​​open warehouses is 90,000 square meters. Ongoing and new projects

OJSC Rostov Port employs 600 people. As a motivation for employees, cash bonuses are issued, permits are issued for recreation centers, certificates are handed out, etc. Innovative projects are being developed in the company: production of pleasure boats, floating restaurants and boats. Their analogues in the Russian Federation are not yet.

Further development of the port is planned as part of the investment project. Funds from the federal and regional budgets have already been partially allocated to it. Project Goals:

  • it is planned to build a new transport and logistics hub;
  • creation of conditions for the transfer of exports to Russian ports;
  • the provision of a full range of services (service, transport and logistics) of world level;
  • solving environmental problems (creating a sanitary zone, reducing harmful emissions).

The RIF plant, part of the Rostov Port group of companies, has already begun to implement some projects. The construction of 2 leading passenger ships (type of catamaran) for 250 passenger seats is underway. Active development of new technologies is underway, which has no analogues in the Russian Federation.
