But many of them have already completed their sports career or are approaching its completion, giving way to the young. And Teresa Johaug is one of the most prominent Norwegian skiers, who today participates in major competitions. She is only 25 years old, but during her short career she has already managed to achieve a lot from what many skiers dare not even dream of.
Theresa's early years
Theresa Johaug could never have become a skier, if not for a coincidence. In early childhood, she began to practice gymnastics, planned a career in this direction, but then realized that she had chosen the wrong path. After that, the young Norwegian went skiing and surprised everyone - at the age of 15 she first participated in the race, and at the age of 17 she became a member of the Norwegian team. World Cup Achievements
Every year, the World Cup among skiers is held, which is one of the most prestigious competitions. And once you get acquainted with Theresa’s results, it will immediately become clear: this is the star of the world skiing. She won five times at various stages of the Cup on her own and eleven times as part of her team in the relay. According to general estimates, she has accumulated 39 climbs on the podium, which by the age of 25 is an impressive achievement.
Teresa Johaug is now approaching to become the best skier in the world, as her results are growing at an incredible rate. In her first season 2006/2007, the Norwegian announced herself, taking in the overall standings 44th line, which for the debutant is a completely satisfactory result. But the very next year, Teresa showed what she was capable of, being the eighteenth. In 2009, the skier made the jump to the top ten, taking eighth place.
2010 could be a fateful year for Theresa, who, after such a resounding success, rolled back, taking only 17th place, which she clearly did not like. But instead of sadness and frustration, she pulled herself together and worked a miracle - the next year she was not enough to enter the top three, she stopped in fourth position. In 2012, she nevertheless achieved her goal, becoming the third in the overall standings, and in 2013 she even rose to second place. With a quick step, Teresa Johaug moves to the title of the best skier in the world - and this is only 25 years old.
Johaug at the World Championships
Before her rebirth in 2011, Teresa lit up only once at the World Championships - this was in 2007. Then she won bronze in the classic for 30 kilometers. But after this, the Norwegian did not have much success until the very 2011 came, from which her ascent to the top began.
Yochaug took two golds and one bronze at the World Championships in Holmenkollen, and two years later in Val di Fiemme she repeated her achievement - two golds and bronze, but the athlete also added a silver medal to them. Thus, Teresa is a four-time world champion, with two of these awards being her own, while the other two she won in the relay.
Olympic success

Olympics because she was still too young and inexperienced - she only made her World Cup debut in 2007. But the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, which was the debut for the Norwegian, became triumphant for her. In the relay team, she won the gold medal, and she was only 21 at that time.
In Sochi in 2014, Teresa had high hopes, but she, unfortunately, did not justify them - the athlete was able to win for her country only silver in the 30 km race and bronze in the classic 10 km race. Queen Alpe de Cermis
The Tour de Ski multi-day ski tournament traditionally ends with a special race - a nine-kilometer climb to the Alpe de Cermis mountain. It has been held since 2007, that is, in total this event was noted 8 times. And five times it was Theresa Johaug who became the winner, while receiving the unofficial title of Queen of the Mountain. This is an incredible result, especially considering the fact that for the past four years no one has been able to take her title from Theresa, in fact, how to break her time record.
