For the first time, chocolate appeared in the East. This later secret of its production spread throughout the world. Now this product is loved by many and thousands of enterprises are engaged in its production. Chocolate factories in Russia are known not only in our country, but they are also very popular abroad.
The beginning of the way
In Europe, chocolate was learned around the middle of the 16th century. And in Russia, he first appeared only after several centuries. At first it was hot chocolate, which was prepared and served in small shops. Later whole workshops began to appear, and even factories for its production. The first chocolate factories in Russia began to be built in the 19th century. The most famous were factories located in Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg and Moscow. In specialized stores, products were sold individually and by weight. This made it possible for everyone at least once to try an unusual oriental delicacy. However, the usual product in our days in the form of tiles was produced in those years only by chocolate factories in Russia, which were owned by foreigners.

For example, the German company Einem, which later became known as Red October, or the French society A. Siu and Co. β This is understandable, because then the country did not have its own specialists in this field. But now, Russian chocolate factories occupy one of the leading places in the world and ship their products to many countries in Europe, Japan and America.
Russian giants
Many of the first chocolate factories in the country after the 1917 revolution were completely unjustifiably forgotten and ceased operations. And among those who have remained and are working, to this day, such large chocolate factories in Russia as:
1) Leonov firm, which was founded by merchants in 1826. Now this factory is called "ROT FRONT".
2) Partnership of Abrikosov, which today is better known as the factory "Babaevskaya".
3) The enterprise of the Frenchman Adolf Sioux. Now he is known as the Bolshevik factory.
4) The German factory Ferdinand von Einem, which since 1922 bears the proud name of "Red October".
A little later, already in the 20th century, enterprises widely known during the Union appeared:
1) "Drummer", created in Moscow in 1929.
2) Factory "Russia" from Samara, which was formerly called Kuybyshevskaya. Built in 1970, it has become one of the largest in Europe over time. True, now the plant is owned by Nestle.
Each of these enterprises is still recognizable and loved by many Russians.
Sweet pleasure
But this is not all chocolate factories in Russia. The list goes on. Every child in our country knows products called βMy Magicβ. These are chocolate eggs and balls with funny surprises, which are produced by a factory with the unusual name βVAVI-NEVAβ. In addition, for the New Year holidays, the company sends figurines of the Snow Maiden, Santa Claus, hare and a variety of Christmas toys to the country's stores, also made of milk chocolate. No less well-known in the domestic market are enterprises located in St. Petersburg: Toffi and Cameo. In addition, products manufactured at Akkond OJSC, Globus factory, OJSC Feretti Rus, and Slavyanka association are very popular.

Russians are very pleased to buy chocolate products prepared by specialists of the confectionery factories of Voronezh, Sormovo and Penza. Since childhood, many have been familiar with the sweets of the famous Tula Yasnaya Polyana. Many of these plants continue to operate independently, and some have joined such giants as the United Confectioners Holding.
Recognized Leaders
Russian chocolate manufacturers, as well as representatives of other industries, have their own recognized leaders. They represent the elite of the domestic confectionery industry. According to experts, there are only five enterprises that rightfully represent chocolate factories in Russia on the world market. The rating of these companies is as follows:
1) The place of the recognized leader is occupied by the United Confectioners concern, whose share in the retail market is 20 percent.
2) The second place belongs to the company MARS-RUSSTA, which produces the famous bars "Snickers", "Bounty", "Mars" and chocolate bar "Dove". Its 15 percent of the total can also be considered a solid achievement.
3) Third place goes to Nestle. She made her 11 percent on such popular brands as Golden Brand, Sudarushka, Rossiysky and Travel. Kraft Foods works with the same result. Her brands Alpen Gold, Milka, Cote D'Or, "Air" and Toblerone are also no less famous in our country.
4) In fourth place is the Italian company Ferrero, which is now represented by a factory in the Vladimir region. Her 9 percent say Russians like Kinder, Ferrero and Rocher Rafaello.
5) The remaining 34 percent is accounted for by smaller producers.
However, in recent years, the country's chocolate production has increasingly felt a tendency towards consolidation with the unification of small industries into powerful concerns.
