It is known that Alexander Hug has a law degree and is a Swiss citizen. He studied law at Friborg University, where he graduated in 2000. There he graduated from a magistracy, where he was awarded a master's degree in law. And already in 2005, Alexander received the title of Master in Specialization in Criminal Law and Human Rights at King's College, University of Aberdeen, in the United States of America.

Service

At the beginning of his career, he served as an officer in the Swiss Army. There, under his command, there was a regional OSCE support unit in regions such as Herzegovina and Northern Bosnia. Then, Alexander Hug was sent with the European Union mission in Kosovo, where he enforced law and order. Later, he was temporarily part of the international forces in Hebron - in one of the largest cities in Israel.

Activities of Alexander Hug in Ukraine

Since the start of hostilities in the eastern part of Ukraine, Alexander has been working on the Special Monitoring Commission. His field of activity includes information gathering, identifying facts of violation of ceasefire agreements, recording shell hits. The Commission controls the withdrawal of equipment from both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics. The main objective of the mission is to reduce tension and contribute to the establishment of a peaceful dialogue between the parties to the armed conflict.
