A bit about history
Now the sanatorium is located in the area, which before the revolution of 1917 bore the name Barboshyna Polyana, was named after the Cossack chieftain of the Zhiguli Volnitsa Bohdan Barbosi. His camp was in these places (oak forests of the Sokoliy Mountains) in about 70-80 years of the 16th century. After the revolution, it was renamed Frunze glade, and since 2007 it has again received its historical name.
In the second half of the XIX century, the place was chosen by wealthy people of Samara. Here began the construction of cottages. To date, two mansions of the cottage Sokolov I.Ya., which is the owner of a very modern mill at that time, have been preserved. Today these are two buildings of the Chkalov sanatorium. In 1943 he underwent rehabilitation (after a severe wound and amputation of two legs) Alexei Maresyev (legendary pilot).
