A typical fire alarm system is not such a simple complex of peculiar technical means that are simply necessary and serve to detect a fire in time, as well as generate control signals intended for warning systems about a fire source and fire extinguishing in automatic mode. Its composition includes such elements as:
• control panel. Reception and control device.
• Remote control to control it (if necessary).
• Equipment designed for the operator center.
• Fire detectors and all kinds of warning devices (warning lights, sirens, etc.).
To power this system, control and reception devices are intended. Alarms created by autonomous fire detectors generate messages and transmit them to the operator center. In addition, alarm signals are generated, after which the control of external systems is triggered (fire extinguishing device, fire alarm, supply and exhaust ventilation, smoke removal).
The control panel with which smoke detectors are equipped is used to make it easier to control devices that are part of the fire system from the local point of the facility. Sometimes without them it is simply impossible to control such systems. Depending on how they operate, fire detectors can be used smoke, heat, ionization, light, combined, gas and many others.
Types of fire protection systems:
• Conventional systems. Detectors have a fixed sensitivity threshold. In addition, a group of such detectors is instantly included in the common loop of the alarm system, in which, after the operation of only one of the detectors, a generalized alarm signal will be generated in the loop.
• Addressable systems. They contain information on the address where the fire detectors are installed. Due to this, it is possible to determine the source of ignition with an accuracy to the place where the fire detector is installed.
Sometimes it is necessary not only to find the place of ignition, but also to localize this fire in a very short time.
There is not one type of
fire extinguishing system
: powder, water, gas. In order to extinguish a fire caused by electronic equipment, gas extinguishing systems are mainly used. The principle of their action is based on lowering the concentration of oxygen in an enclosed space by spraying carbon dioxide and freon. But sometimes this is simply not enough, you have to contact the fire department.
However, fire alarms will always be able to warn that danger is coming. In this regard, most fire departments recommend the installation of such warning systems.
