Moiseev made an indispensable contribution to the choreography not only of his country, but of the whole world as a whole. He devoted his whole life to creativity and achieved unprecedented successes in the development of mastery of choreography. The ballet of Igor Moiseev is a unique highly professional academic dance ensemble. He managed to convey in the dance movement various images and folklore of the peoples of the world.
Start
The future artist learned to dance by accident. His dad gave it to a dance studio only to prevent the negative effects of the street from appearing on it. The boy showed his abilities quickly enough. Having noticed this, his teacher, former ballerina Vera Mosolova, brought him to the ballet school at the Bolshoi Theater. Igor was immediately appreciated, the chief choreographer of the establishment took him under his wing. Igor was very quickly formed in the dance field.
A major breakthrough in his career was the staging of a parade on Red Square. For this, he involved school students. The performance was more than successful, it delighted many. After him, orders of the highest level simply rained down on Igor. Even Stalin admired his productions and helped with the premises for the work of the team.
The foundation of the ballet
On February 10, 1937, the choreographer founded the ballet of Igor Moiseyev. The main characteristics of its formation were the continuity and creative interaction of traditions and innovation. He managed to correctly prioritize his team. Thanks to this, he achieved success in achieving his goals.
The main goal of Moiseyev was a choreographic interpretation of the images of folklore that existed at that time. To realize their goal, the ensemble members traveled around the country and studied folk customs. They got acquainted with the folklore of different nations, searched for disappearing dances, rites and songs.
The work done has borne fruit. The unique "Dances of the peoples of the USSR" (1937-1938), "Dances of the Baltic peoples" (1939) appeared. The master put his soul into his artistic images. In the interpretation of his ballet, they came to life on stage and persisted for many generations around the world.
In order to correctly and clearly convey everything to the viewer, Moiseev spared no effort, used the stage culture completely: acting, all kinds and types of dances, drama, set design, symphonic music.
European folklore
A significant period in his activity was the study and creative interpretation of European folklore. Unable to travel abroad, Igor Moiseyev’s ballet "Dances of Slavic Peoples" set exclusively at home. For this, the head consulted with many specialists. Success was not long in coming.
On tour in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Poland, the audience was simply fascinated by the ensemble. The productions were made so correctly and the artistic meaning of the stage works was correctly conveyed. Even today, Igor Moiseyev’s ballet is an invaluable example and a school for choreographers in many countries.
The creations of Moses became a kind of choreographic manual, which is used by different peoples. He staged the program "Peace and Friendship", in it he collected images of dance folklore of eleven countries, including European and Asian. European countries took an example from the dance performances of Igor Moiseyev and created their own choreographic groups.
Always first
At that time, the country was not very favorable for the development of creativity. Igor Moiseyev’s ballet was the first dance group to be given permission to tour abroad. The ensemble's performances were crowned with success, this was the first step towards international detente.
In 1955, artists first performed in London and Paris. And in 1958, they became one of the first domestic groups to show their performance in the United States. Successful touring in America by the press appreciated and paved the way for the confidence of the USSR.
Like many decades, a full house accompanies Igor Moiseyev’s ballet. The poster of concerts clearly shows this. The schedule of performances was scheduled for several years in advance.
School of Moses
The Moses Dance School was unique and one of a kind. She was distinguished by professionalism of the highest degree, virtuosity and excellent improvisation. Pupils of the great master were not just actors - they are highly educated universal lyceums. They flawlessly mastered any kind of dance, amazingly embodied all the artistic images.
The title of dancer of the Moses school is the best recommendation in any country in the choreographic collective of different directions. The creative path and the character of the pupils' upbringing are shown in the program "Road to Dance", it highlights in detail the whole path that the ballet named after Igor Moiseyev went through. For this production, the master received the Lenin Prize, and his ensemble was awarded the title of Academic.
70 years of worldwide recognition
The stage activity of the collective has been going on for more than 70 years, it was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples. One can absolutely honestly call the ballet of Igor Moiseyev the visiting card of our country. Tickets sold at the box office of the Moscow Philharmonic are sold out instantly.
For an invaluable contribution to the art of dance, Igor Moiseyev was awarded the Oscar. And even after his death, today he lives in the heart of his ensemble, which holds the appropriate level and is an impeccable model.
