Any major automotive brand has several product lines. One of them is minibuses. All brands or models of this line have different load capacities, number of seats, body length and type of application, but they all have one thing in common - these are small buses, cars for transporting people.
Brands and models
Stamps are not written by chance - take, for example, the Toyota brand . Toyota Hiace saw everything. But this one brand has several types.
At the same time, the brand itself has several brands related to the line of minibuses.
The pictures above show a Japanese minibus. If we talk about Western minibuses, all brands, their prices are often the price of the German market and the prices for driving here. If the owner himself can overtake the car - the price will not be much lower than the price in Russia. It will require costs, but the amount of costs + the price of the bus are worth it. This, of course, is not about new ones, but about used ones, but in use there - on western roads.
Soviet (Russian) minibuses
Soviet automakers did not, as such, use minibuses. VAZ, GAZ and other manufacturers produced only cars or trucks, cars. There was only one factory, or rather, not even a factory — a factory that creates hulls on a gas chassis. Her cars were seen by everyone. Someone went to work at such, someone to study, someone worked. I think that one word "factory" has already given impetus to memories. Add the word “auto” here, then shorten to the first one letter ... And get the name of the factory, which produced exclusively minibuses. All brands or models (especially early ones) of this factory had the Latvia logo on the hood, and later the RAF - Riga Automobile Factory.
Most interestingly, there was not a single corps in Riga, but all mass Soviet production functioned on the territory of the now sovereign power.
The factory worked for many years and, in addition to conventional minibuses, produced many special models.
Part of the products went for export to Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, but almost all Soviet-era minibuses were RAFs and, accordingly, at one time they left the gates of one of the shops of this factory. Having most of the components from a variety of GAZ models, the cars had good controllability, maintainability, and other capabilities inherent in the Volga, including caps on wheels from the Volga Gas 21. There were some overlays. So, among other characteristics inherited from GAZ, one can name the voracity of fuel, which distinguishes all RAF minibuses. All brands are characterized by increased fuel consumption, but some RAF special developments consumed much more than their colleagues. However, if we recall that all machines of this class were listed on the balance sheet of state enterprises, then this shortcoming cannot be called significant.
Currently, Rafiki have been successfully replaced by GAZelles, Sables, or other foreign brands. GAZelle was originally developed as a small truck, but the development turned out to be so successful that after the usual on-board car other modifications went that had the usual GAZelle filling, but at the same time a different body. One of such solutions was modern minibuses.
Current situation
New minibuses in Russia are in no less demand than the RAFiki at one time. Many carriers use only foreign solutions, but GAZelles, and especially those with high ceilings, are also successfully used. By the way, if in the old days a fixed-route taxi, however, like the usual one, was used no more often than buses or other public transport, then according to modern statistics there are cities in Russia where it is minibuses that transport more than 80% of the passenger flow.
All brands, prices
New models are still popular, and let's say, in Moscow, the price of a Mercedes minibus will be from 2 million. If you want and can, you can take a bus in other regional cities and then return to Moscow (if the latter is necessary ) So the price may be cheaper. The price of Wv, also in Moscow, can start from 4 million. At the same time, Russian auto - typical gazelles will cost, naturally, cheaper.
GAZ, like another manufacturer, is interested in buying its products, therefore, sets low prices for its minibuses. All brands, prices and features can be found in the following table.

It is not possible to consider all automotive brands in a short article. But we described Soviet and then Russian brands that produce minibuses. All brands are useless to consider - if the model is successful, they simply process it, refine it and make a new car. But maybe that’s right. Reinventing a bike is boring ....
